My mom and I are taking all the girls for lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table next week. This is our first Disney trip. I bought the younger girls Cinderella tshirts for that day. But my friend told me that all the girls dress up in costumes and I should get them for my girls. Will they feel left out if they aren't dressed up, too? I mean do all the girls get dressed up? And how would I keep the costumes nice until lunch time? ugh. HELP!!! :confused3

no "everyone" does not get dressed up. SOME girls dress up and it's not really noticeable IMO. Cinderella shirts are perfect for CRT.
Don't even worry about it. :goodvibes

We have done lots of character meals including CRT and my dd's have never dressed up. We have always had a wonderful time and great character interaction.

There will be some little girls in costumes - especially now that the BBB is downstaris but definatly not everyone.

IMHO a Cinderella shirt is fine and the characters will make the girls feel special no matter what they are wearing.

Hi a lot of the girls wear princess dresses its sweet with all the princesses Cinderrella takes a photo as you go in its a matter of what you want not every one dresses but the little girls look so sweet:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I've noticed that more and more are dressing up for these princess meals, but there are still plenty in regular clothes. I definitely wouldn't worry about it. The t shirt idea is actually perfect. I'm sure Cinderella will comment on it, the girls will be comfortable, and you won't have to worry about getting them changed and figuring out how to handle the costumes.

I would say usually there are about a little less than half of the girls dressed up at the Princesses meals. Cinderella shirts would be great for lunch!

My girls always dress up and they really enjoy it. If it's hot we just roll the costumes up and throw them in the bottom of the stroller. If it's cool they just wear them all day. I let them choose. Usually unless it's just really hot they want to wear them. There is a place called "My Dress Up Trunk" that sells costumes. The Cinderella ones are extremely light weight and roll up very small for carrying in the parks.

Whether they are going to feel left out depends on your children's personalities. My DD was dressed up but felt left out that she didn't have her hair done when she saw another girl with her hair done. She got over it quickly though. However, she would NOT have been happy if she wasn't dressed up at all. Maybe you could get a little skirt/skort to go with the Princess T's. That would make it a little dressier.

We went last year and my DD (then 3 1/2) did not dress up. Neither her or I felt weird. We had a blast!!

My girls wear their dress up every day, so we definitely do dress up for the meals. Every child is different - let them do what makes them comfortable.

I brought our Halloween costumes down, and after they had their pics taken and wore them while we waited for our table, after that, my girls wanted the costumes OFF! Now, normally we would have to drag them around all day with us, but we were able to bring them back to our room quickly and get on with our day. My advice, wear the tshirts! ;)

We've had breakfast there in July 2007 and August 2008. My DD did not dress up and never felt out of place. Some girls do, but don't feel pressured to have yours in costumes. There's no need, and all the girls get special attention from the princesses.

We went to a Disney on Ice show last year and so many of the girls there were wearing a princess costume. It never even crossed my mind to dress DD in her Cinderella costume. My DD's would have been 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 at the time. They did notice the costumes and point them out to me but neither were upset that they weren't in costume.

We are doing a breakfast at CRT in October. I do plan on taking the girls costumes to WDW with us anyway since it is October and DD#1 wants to do the trick or treat thing. But I haven't really decided if they will wear them to CRT. I do think it would make for a cute picture though. If they do wear their costumes I will make sure and take clothes for them to change into right after the breakfast. The girls wore costumes trick or treating to our local Zoo last year and they were a filthy mess by the end of the day. Since they will need these costumes again for trick or treat and the zoo when they get home I'm trying to keep them as nice as possible.

Thanks so much everyone! Another friend of mine said she might have costumes that would fit my girls and we could borrow them. If she does we will take them, but if not I am not going to stress about it.

I appreciate all your responses! This board is great! :)

DGrD has done CRT a few times - both in her Cinderella dress and not - she's been happy both ways. We'll be there next week, too (lunch at CRT on Weds. for her 5th b'day!!)- I wanted to pack her Cinderella dress (mostly for the sake of the pictures), but she said she didn't want to pack dresses for this trip - too hot and sticky!! She picked out a cute T shirt that says Princess and a comfy short skirt to wear with it - she will be so much more comfortable in the August heat! She did decide she MUST wear her Alice dress to the Wonderland Tea Party, however - the girl believes Alice is her best friend ever since Alice recognized her from breakfast and made a huge fuss over her on Main St, giving her a big hug and kiss during the evening parade!!

Everyone does not dress up. But I had a friend who took her then 5 year old last summer and she was just wearing a princess shirt and skirt. The fact that so many girls were dressed up and she wasn't really upset her daughter. My friend said it ruined the experience for them.

So, I'd say it depends on your daughter. If she is the kind that doesn't care about what other people are doing, she'll be fine. But if she is one who notices that kind of thing, it might be an issue.
