Do they do anything fun or special on the first night of a resort opening?

I currently have a one night stay at the GF the night it opens (I'm local) Has anyone ever stayed on the grand opening of a new resort? Do they ever do anything special for it?

don't remember anything for AKV - Kidani or BLT?
