I seem to remember being at a Themepark before where they closed it for severe weather and you got a rain-check on your way out....

The forecast for Friday is pretty bleak right now (unfortunately we already purchased 2 park express passes for this day...)

We have always gone in the summer and there are almost daily lightning/thunderstorms. The parks don't close, they just close all the water rides and roller coasters. Once the storms pass a safe distance, they reopen the rides. I have never heard of getting rainchecks.

If there's rain, the Hulk may shut down, depending on if it interferes with its ability to launch. Everything else keeps going. If there's lightning, all outdoor rides shut down until the storm has passed. Most storms last no more than 20-30 mins, so it's just an inconvenience.

Islands of Adventure is not a good park to be at when the weather is like that with all the water rides and coasters.I went in there last summer on a day like that just to see some construction for Potter and it was dead since you basically couldn't do anything,it's a good thing the new Potter ride is indoors.USf is a better park when it's lightning and raining.

I think they used to do rainchecks a loooong time ago, but then they realized it wasn't working out since it rains a looot.

The forecast seems to keep changing. I looked last night for today's weather and the times of expected rain seems to have shifted. So, hopefully you won't get too much rain tomorrow. If it is supposed to rain later in the day, go to IOA first. Then when the rain begins, you can head to the Studios and check out all the indoor rides (and the Horror Make-Up Show ;)).

Have a great time!

No, in the summer of 08, we were in the middle of a HUGE thunderstorm
at nite
It seemed like we were the only goofballs in the park
We did all the indoor rides, went to the candy shop in Suess Landing
and when the lightening stopped, we even rode The Hulk before leaving the park, it was awesome, there was no one else at The Hulk except about 8 of us riding and the workers
