I thought I read this somewhere? I would think that would be counter productive.

All 3 of the on-site hotels charge for self parking($12.00).
If you are asking about parking at the parks, there is no need to
as you take the boat , shuttle or walk.

Self parking is $15 + tax
Valet parking is $21 + tax

Parking is very limited at the Universal hotels since it is in the middle of the city.

So is this 15$ a day that you are there??? I just can't imagine charging the hotel guests.

but I was wondering if the per day charge is paid when you check in or when you check out?

Yep, they charge hotel guests. Thats how they keep the prices down for the rooms.

It's paid up front when you check in.

Why not? Many hotels charge for parking. If Universal didn't charge for parking at their resorts, too many people would park there for free instead of paying to park in the parking structure. That's what happens at WDW's MK resorts, which is why parking can be difficult if you are actually staying at the hotel.

Haven't you ever had to pay for parking at a hotel? Fifteen bucks is pretty cheap. I've paid up to $55 bucks in San Francisco, New Orleans, and Miami.

So on your check in day, can you just pull into the garage then go check in? We will be arriving in the morning. I am assuming our room will not be ready so I just want to leave everything in the car.

Yep , park the car , and checkin.if your room is ready, just go get your luggage.
we usually get luggage unloaded at the entrance, and if room is not ready they will hold it till rooms ready and then deliver it to your room

If you are staying at the hotel, it is just added to your bill like anything else to be paid at checkout. If you stay one night, you get charged once .

Just remember to take your room key with you to the car to get out of the lot. That is the only way I know of to get out of the lot without paying. There isn't an attendent, just a drop bar that you either swipe your credit card (to pay) or your room key (if staying onsite). We left our room keys in the room at checkout and did't think we would be able to get out of the lot! Luckily, they were doing some kind of work in the lot and the bar was up!

Does it matter how many times in and out or is it just a flat daily rate. The sad part is we have stayed on-site and I just don't remember. Is the Valet charge per day as well? My husband has a weird neurosis about other people driving our cars:confused3:...Which I find hysterical! we do not have a fancy vehicle, It is a Honda Odyssey. So I want to make sure I am the driver who arrives at the hotel, so he isn't circling around the hotel parking lot trying to avoid the dasturdly valet who just wants to help us while my excited kids lose their brain:sad2:

Flat rate. Valet is daily as well.

Last may I've stayed at the RPR for a few nights, and I was expecting to get charge for the parking because that is what the web site says, even at the entrance of the parking, so I went in, picked up the paper card from machine, the bar went up, parked. Then I was checking in the front desk lady asked me if I've parked at the hotel parking lot so I gave her the card, she ripped it off and told me "you won't be needing this anymore, use your room key to go in and out from now on".
I've checked the bill carefully and I didn't find any parking fees reflected on my bill at all. I think it is free for hotel guests.

.

Its definetly not free Don Pacho, you where just one of the lucky ones not to get charged

I always work in the cost of parking when budgeting the hotel cost. I round up to $20 a night for hotel parking.
