Do spectators have to pay to watch along the course?

Question came up today amongst the husbands travelling with me and my friend (who are both doing the marathon) - do they need to pay to spectate along the course?? Some of the spectator spots seem to be inside the parks....thoughts/ideas? What about the finish line??

No, all spots where they would watch the half are free, including the stretch along Main Street in MK. On the Epcot end they will not be allowed in the park without a park pass. Note that for most runners the park is not open during the race anyway.

For the full you two will have the same MK option. Likewise, all other park access will require a pass.

There are way too many places to see runners around the park to consider entry...for instance, we exit AK, DHS and Epcot neat the front gate for each park.

The finish line for both races is in the parking lot.

Parking in one of the park lots may be another story, though? I expect they will be collecting the $14 from non-resort staying guests.

I emailed about the parking charge, and this is the reply that I received:

If you arrive to EPCOT or the TTC prior to 7:00 AM, you will not be charged to park. Please keep in mind, there will be significant road closures and delays so spectators need to allow for extra time.

My family parked for free at the TTC when I ran the Marathon in 2008, and they got a great viewing spot on Main Street. After I passed through and we took some quick castle photos, they bopped around on the monorail (breakfast at the Poly, quick stop at the Contemporary) then saw me at the finish.

i kind of thought the Epcot parking thing was understood as a freebie. Also, MK early, early is a freebie. Otherwise, AK, DHS and Epcot after the race has started are a charge.
