Do resorts still offer special check-out rates?

DH & I just found out today that our return flight leaves 5 hours earlier than planned - since it is only a 4 day trip that really creates a problem!! The airline offered to let us leave the following day so we said yes (we both had the day off anyways) so now the only snag is where to stay that extra night?

I thought I had heard that sometimes the resorts will offer special rates on the day of check-out during slow periods. We are staying at CSR and would have left Monday but now we are leaving on Tuesday. I am not sure DH will want to pay rack rate but I think it's worth it not to pack up and pay a cab to go somewhere else. Anyone know what the heck I'm talking about?

We have been offered special rates on several occassions. The offer was attached to our hotel door and was placed there the day before we were scheduled to leave. Last time was in Nov. 2002. So, there is hope, although I don't know what criteria they determine when they make the offer. The times we were offered we had been there 7 or 8 nights already.
Will send some Pixie Dust your way for an extra night!
