Do resorts still offer gift cards for turning down house cleaning service?

Covid went away with it. Plus it was only happening in value and moderate resorts and the first wave of hotel openings were primarily deluxe.

No gift card for declining housekeeping. There is only limited housekeeping available at the resorts right now, anyway. It is currently a "light cleaning" every other day, and they don't touch the bed.

Enhanced Cleaning and Housekeeping Modifications

When you stay at a Disney Resort hotel, enjoy peace of mind knowing that your room will be thoroughly cleaned prior to your arrival and serviced during your stay. Plus, common areas will receive increased cleaning.

Common Areas
We’ve increased cleaning in high-traffic areas such as public elevators and escalators, handrails, benches, tables, handles, restrooms and more.

Housekeeping
Prior to your arrival, your room will undergo thorough cleaning—with attention to:
  • High-touch areas, like TV remotes and door handles
  • Housekeeping tools will be cleaned between rooms
  • Floors, which will be steam cleaned and vacuumed between Guests
Inside your room, you’ll find:
  • Individually wrapped glassware
  • Additional items that have been cleaned, sealed or wrapped in single-use packaging
And during your stay, your room will receive a light cleaning service every other day, which will include:
  • Removal of trash and used towels
  • Replenishment of towels and amenities throughout the room and bathroom
  • Wiping and cleaning of the vanity and counter surfaces
  • Vacuuming if needed
You can also decline every-other-day service.
Please note that:
  • If you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member using your Membership to stay, you’ll receive service on the 4th and 8th days, unless you decline that service.
  • If there is more than one room on your reservation and you choose to decline service, your selection will apply to all rooms on the reservation.
  • We reserve the right to enter any room at a Disney Resort hotel for maintenance, safety, security or any other purpose, even if the Room Occupied sign is displayed on the room door. View Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules.

I have never even heard that it's possible. How does it work?
Prior to the resort closing in March 2020 for Covid-19 you had an option at Value and Moderate resorts to chose not to have daily room cleaning.

You had to make the choice at Check-in time and you received a Gift card for N-1 days of your stay. Your room was cleaned before your check-in and then only again once you check out. You could request towels and consumable items like Coffee and bathroom supplies.

Again as covered above in the thread this option is no longer being offered.

I think it depends on the resort. I know some resorts and hotels still use it, and others don't or replace it with other alternatives
The program was terminated when they basically terminated housekeeping on Covid re-opening. Otherwise everyone would take a gc in exchange for giving up the every other day trash and towel service that Disney misses more often than not.

Its less that they don't want to do it and more that they can't find the people to clean the rooms. I've seen advertisements here in Orlando for Disney Jobs (Housekeeping, Lifeguards and Bus Drivers) that pay a 5K bonus after 3 months. The labor shortages combined with a lack of affordable housing in Orlando is making it harder and harder to fill those roles.

I almost laughed when I saw the question in this thread. Not only is this no longer offered but good luck getting even the supposed every-other-day trash+towel service.

I've taken to bringing trash can liners to WDW with me since I've had to empty my own trash at least once on every trip I've taken to WDW since they reopened.

No doubt-we have started bringing a few kitchen size trash bags and have found grabbing some Pool Towels can be our friend in a pinch.

Really miss the days of coming "home" to a freshly serviced room including a few Towel Animals.
