Do PIN rooms ever become "available" closer to travel?

They tell me there are no longer rooms "available" for my PIN code. (Whatevs) I had to book using AAA. I know people overbook meals and prob rooms with PINs. Is it worth checking as I get closer to travel to see if a Room for my PIN code has "become available".
