another weird study.......... so i walk around in the same costume, always. yeah, my costumes kinda rare, but that shouldn't change how you're treated in my eyes. i mean, a person's a person no matter what they're wearing, right? so i logged on a mule, dressed in normal clothes, and for seemingly no apparent reason, many people came up to me and called me rude names. now, maybe i live in a little bubble or something, but no one's EVER cursed me out while wearing my rare clothes. anyone else notice this???

I've actually noticed that I've been treated much nicer in general since I got my sparrow and inferno. Maybe people figure that you're rich and if they're nice you might trade with them? I tend to treat people by the way they act, though I try to be nice in general.

I've even had people curse me out in a pirates game, continue while I'm in line leaving it, then once I stepped out into the area where you could see me, apologize, say they were kidding, and ask if I'll look at their inferno offer.

I've never had that experience on my other character. She wears only regular clothes, has no magic other than the free Kellogg's magic, and no hats. Nobody has ever been rude or mean towards her. Maybe it was a bad day in general for you? Also, I'd like to add that my main character doesn't always wear costumes. I have been known to remove my inferno, too. I've heard comments from rude players both with and without inferno and/or costume pieces on.

Yea this happens to me on my other person to. I would wear a tinkerbell shirt, jeans and a baseball cap and VMK members would come up to me on vmk and make fun of my bc of my clothles and i was like you can't judge someone by their clothles so then i reported him and then i got reported to and i got a warning for telling him you can't judge someone by their clothles.

I wear the same clothes about 98% of the time -- a red bling shirt, black mansion pants, red flips, and a mansion hat (see my sig for a pic)...and have never, ever had anyone say anything rude to me for this reason. I also have another character that has no rare anything on it, and just recently began wearing a cowboy hat. But even before that, I have never experienced anything what you are describing. :confused3

Actually, I found that lots of people are rude because I DO have rare. All the time, regardless of my signature saying "not trading what I wear", People always trade me and ask for my stuff. Then they beg and say "plz", "Please!", "I'm poor", "I'm new"... The list goes on. Then I tell them nicely "nope sorry" or if they are the lucky 50th to ask me, they'll probably get something like "no, just like my signature says". Irregardless of how nice I am to them, they are just simply rude right back. Calling me things like 'dumbo' and 'more on' and saying how ugly I look.

Maybe they're jealous deep down and angry because they can't get anywhere in the game. I don't know. I'm trading pins, so I don't want to turn off trades. Instead, I found that simply saying 'no' and closing the trade window is often enough of a hint that they leave me alone. If they continue outside of the trade window, I just tell them begging is rude and I even leave if they keep it up.

It's sad how people act online. Maybe they figure it doesn't matter since it's not real life and they'll never meet the people they talk to. :confused3

Ok, you've had no rudeness on the character that is NOT a leader. LOL!

I was going to say that you can wear the most plain stuff on your main
character, but you can't hide the "CL" prefix. ;)

When I've played my other characters, I haven't found anyone to be rude.
What I did find surprising was that these characters are wearing NO pins
and have nothing rare on, and yet they still get random trade pop ups!

I have to wonder why someone would ask to trade a character with no rare?

I get people wanting my rare stuff too. It's odd that people don't even always believe me when I say I cannot trade what I am wearing.
Another thing that bugs me is when I agree to trade with them and without saying hi or anything the player starts adding lots of items really quickly. Doing that tends to REALLY slow down my computer, and it can take minutes after I type hello and hit enter for it to appear on screen. Then people complain that I'm not talking to them when I really am, and it's just taking a long time for my words to appear in the window. It can take a while for the window to close, even if I keep trying to hit stop trading several times. Why do people think that I would trade something really nice like inferno for stuff I could just buy in shops or already have? My signature says I'm not trading my magic, so why do people still ask? I wish they would take the time to read my signature before asking to trade with me. It would save both of us a lot of time and aggravation.

OMG I HATE THAT!! They'll add all this buyable stuff and then swear up and down that it's rare and worth a lot. Then they'll ask for my bat for it and I'll tell them nicely, it's not worth that or I'll simply say I'm not trading. Then they'll take everything out of the window and put up MORE buyables and then the begging begins. "Please accept! Please!" I've gotten in the habit of just closing the window right after I see the buyables going up. It's a little rude, but I think it was rude of them not to read in the first place.

LOL Briar! It's true! I get more rude comments from players when I'm on as a leader. After all, aren't leaders supposed to know absolutely everything about vmk and give away everything we own? ;) Yes, that's what is most frustrating to me, I think. For some reason, new players think that CL's are supposed to give them things and will go so far as to argue with me when I tell them I earned everything I own! Still, I am glad that my poor, nearly pinless girl can walk through vmk without any hassles or trade windows. :thumbsup2

Just one thing I've noticed is when I wear my "pretty" stuff I get all these friend requests but when I've made my face blue or green, etc, no one requests to be my friend. It's amazing how people will judge you by how your character looks. You really don't know who's behind the character. I find it funny.

I have a friend who "wears" blue skin all the time, specifically for the reason that it eliminates taken requests. He has learned that pre-teen girls just don't go for blue-skinned guys! ;)

I hate that too. Someone put up a couple regular shirts here was the conversation:
Me: hi
- person puts up 5 shirts-
Person: trade with me. Put as much stuff as me
Me: -puts up everest mountain chair-
Person: more
Me: No, this is Much more rarer than a couple shirts
Person: ..
-person puts up 5 more shirts-
Me: Sorry, no.
Person: Well, can I have something else plz? I'm poor and new. I Need things
Me: What about 2 chairs?
Person: Ty!!
-person takes away 5 shirts-
-person accepts-
-I accept-
-person denies, and takes away 3 shirts-
Person: Come on! You accepted!
Me: Yes, I did. But for 10 shirts!
-person takes away more shirts leaving 1 left-
-closes trade-

my sis does that, but she thinks it's cool........... anyways, some guy came up to her and said she was an alien and got rather violent

i get called "unimaginative", "dumbo" "mean" and "ugly"on snow when i have any of my outfits of the day on and i also go called this when i went undercover as a new guest and pretended that i was brand brand new.
Now On the other had i made a new character during the ride a thonand once i got a bunch of ups i went in my room to count them in stuff and right when i get in MY room there is a girl already there and i stepped out in stuff and she said "you are a very lucky person" and asked me to trade so i accepted. in the trade window she put a waterslide start 2 downs and 2 ups and then she says "congratulations :)" and i just pretended like i was new so i went "what do i do with these?" and then she explained it to me and she was so nice

I've never been put down for not having any rare stuff (on my side account.) People who would do that are jerks. Simple as that. If people like you better for having rare stuff, it's just because they see you as a more experianced player. Kinda like a popularity thing.

Well, to amend my earlier comment, I've noticed that people tend to be less randomly rude to me when I have rare stuff. People don't generally be randomly rude to me that often anyway, but it does seem to happen more often on my rareless accounts than on my main, though maybe that's just me.

Forget about trade requests, thanks to those I have come to loathe the word "plz" (which really isn't a word so much as a nonsensical sound). I keep it turned off at all times unless I traded with a friend and forgot to turn it back on. Otherwise I get too annoyed with the game and have to quit. I so love whoever added the block trades option.
