I don't think that's right. If I understand things correctly, one can only buy 24 OTU points, total, in any given UY.

Question: if I have a December use year and buy OTUP for a December trip and don’t end up taking that trip and having to cancel, will my OTUP for sure expire next November 30, or might they expire sooner?
Thank you! They for sure expire end of November 2026. The only part that is different with MMB is what you pay.
All other rules are exactly the same for use. If you read the T & C it explains that regular rules for use of OTU points still apply.
Once you purchase them, they are just like full price ones.
So if I were to book a 1-night dummy room with OTUP, could I use them to modify a reservation previously made at 11 months once I am inside the 7 month window for that reservation? You probably want to look at purchasing them before 7 months of your trip as they can only be purchased through MS 1 hour after online booking has started.
I use David’s calculator and look for one day near the start of my use year that is exactly 24 points (or a little more if I have some points) that most likely would be available such as preferred RIV studio, CFW cabin, PVB studio, VGF resort studio. After finding that day I call at 7 months from that day and purchase the OTUP for that reservation.
Afterwards I cancel it and as @DanCali mentioned it 2 12 point contracts will appear in your dashboard to select when booking at 8 am at 7 months along with your BLT direct points and other resale if you instead want to try for PIT instead of RIV.
Even though the contracts show in your dashboard they DO NOT give you the 7-11 month booking advantage and can still only be used at the 7 month window.
One time use points can only be used at the seven month window. There is no 11 month advantage. You will see a separate resort most likely as well after you’ve canceledSo if I were to book a 1-night dummy room with OTUP, could I use them to modify a reservation previously made at 11 months once I am inside the 7 month window for that reservation?
Or does the initial reservation have to have been made at 7 months?
So I tried this, but when I go to modify my existing reservation, the contract I booked it with is locked, so I am unable to use my 24 OTUP. This is an October reservation so within the 7 month window. One time use points can only be used at the seven month window. There is no 11 month advantage. For example this year I received VGC but I cannot use those points at the 11 months to book something at VGC.
I could still use The OTUP and book something at VGC if there was availability at seven months.
OTUP work best for non peak times, Resorts that have more availability or 1 bedroom units.
If your booking in one of the situations listed above you could then book at 7 months and get your Home Resort points back to bank so you have more priority points the next year.
I.e you have a Preferred BWV 1 bedroom booked at 11 months you can usually 7 month that reservation and then bank the BWV points so next year you would have in theory 24 more BWV points to try and 11 month a BW view studio that is in much higher demand than a preferred 1 bedroom.
Was the existing reservation made in the 7-11 month window? If yes, then you cant change it to use OTUPSo I tried this, but when I go to modify my existing reservation, the contract I booked it with is locked, so I am unable to use my 24 OTUP. Existing res was made at 11 months (see post #26)Was the existing reservation made in the 7-11 month window? If yes, then you cant change it to use OTUP
Well done.Existing res was made at 11 months (see post #26)
What I ended up being able to do is change the 1 night OTUP res to match the end of my existing reservation.
Then I modified the pre-existing reservation, cutting off the last night.
Then I chatted with MS to merge the 2 reservations.
Voila, I have bankable 2025 points now and have used my OTUP!
Side note: The initial 1 night booking left me with 5 leftover OTUP. I was going to just let them be lost, but they were able to incorporate them into the merged reservation. So a win all around.Well done.
Sorry if I wasn’t clear about the 11 month advantage. So I tried this, but when I go to modify my existing reservation, the contract I booked it with is locked, so I am unable to use my 24 OTUP. This is an October reservation so within the 7 month window.
