Do new buyers get any special pricing if referred by an existing DVC member?

Just curious. What is the incentive for a new buyer to give their guide a referral name of an existing member? Do thenew buyers get any perks for doing this?

There were a couple of times that there was a lower price if you had a referral but have not heard of this lately. The person who referred you does get some perks if you buy. They do have to live in a state that allows this however and possibly the buyer does also but I don't remember all the details.

The buyer gets a $2 per point savings with a referral. If you haven't closed yet, it isn't too late to add one -- even if you've already made a deposit.

If they live in a state that permits it, the referring member gets a gift. The value depends on the number of other referrals they had. I think it starts at $250 for the first one. So it's nothing to sneeze at.

My friend is seriously thinking of purchasing...She was not told this by my guide!

She is thinking of purchasing SSR or AKV!!!!!

Strange, why wouldn't the guide say this??

ARE THERE CURRENTLY ANY INCENTIVES FOR 100 POINT MINIMUM BUY IN AT EITHER SSR or AKV? Someone mentioned something like "roll back of points"..another words, if she purchases 100 min points, she will have 100 extra in 2012...example, 200 points available sometime after say March,2012!

I've never heard mention of $2 per point as the referral discount. That may be the current incentive, I'm not sure. In the past, there have been other incentives - it changes and sometimes there are not any for the buying party. I've had a few referrals and they got more off than that from what I recall but it's been a while.

Check dvcnews.com - they always have a nice list of the current selling prices and any referrals or other discounts that might be offered.

No current mention of referral discounts at all - just regular (non-referral) promotional discounts. It's still a nice thing to do if you have a friend who is already an owner, though, because they do get something if they don't live in one of the states that restricts it.

This kind of statement usually refers to getting an extra year's points (last year's points) when you buy - it is not any great deal though, but the guides try to make it out that it's "special"! But it's really the standard from everything I've ever seen.

If she wants to purchase from you she will get whatever points remain in your current Use Year and remain in your next Use Year. If she purchases thru DVC directly she will get the complete compliment of points from the current Use Year (either 2011 or 2012 depending what Use Year she purchases - Oct and Dec are still in their 2011 Use Year, all other months are in the 2011 Use Year) and the same number of points again when the next Use Year begins.

So if she chooses a Dec use year, she would get 2011 points to be used when? If for example, she purchases 150 points and a Dec.2011 use year, she would have to use those points by when? Then she would get another 150 points for 2012 use year? When could she begin making a reservation for the 2011 points, immediately right after the purchase? Then when could she begin making a reservation for 2012 points at her home resort, say she purchases SSR as home resort? When could she begin making a reservation for non home resorts?

With a Dec.use year, each year, she would have to "bank" any points by Aug.31st correct, 4 months prior to expiration of use yr? Also, she couldn't use any points in say The Disney Collection from Sept-Dec, correct?


Also, can she "split" the 150 into 3 separate contracts, same resort, say SSR, same use year, say December? I have 2 separate 100 point contracts, but didn't have any idea if you could split purchase into 3 separate say 50 point contracts.

With a December use year, if she bought now she should get 2010 points in her account, which could either be used by November 30th or if member services allows it (because it's past the window) she may be able to bank them into her 2011 year.

Then on December 1, she would get her 2011 points which are good until November 30, 2012.

Her banking window is July 31, not August 31.

Just like anyone else, she can make reservations at her home resort 11 months before her trip date, and 7 months before her trip date at a non-home resort. You do not need the points when you book, only when you travel.
