Do most of you head home or to WDW after cruise?

After our last cruise, when leaving the ship, it seemed like such a letdown to head to the airport. Do many of you go to WDW for a night or two before heading home? We're taking a western cruise in 2005, and I'm starting to think maybe we should spend Saturday night at WDW (or, would you spend Sunday night, too)? Or, does anyone go to Vero Beach?

:earsboy:

After our 4 day we went back and spent 1 night at the polynesian before heading back home. We got there pretty early and had a nice day at the MK. We weren't going to do it, but our travel agent thought it was a good idea. It really does ease you gently back into real life. :)

We usually do WDW before the cruise, which gets us to the Orlando area several days in advance (a nice "just in case.") Then, we usually head home....

Hi Cali :wave2:

We're spending the night before the cruise at the Radisson at the port, then spending the night AFTER the cruise at a WDW resort. Still haven't decided which one yet, it's a toss up between the Polynesian and the Wilderness Lodge. I agree...it's such a let down to get off that ship and have to go right home!!

Our first Disney trip was four days at WDW (with in-laws) followed by a four day cruise (with out in-laws). I wasn't overly excited about WDW (even with the day we spent there without the in-laws) and we've never been back since.

However, we have taken 4 additional Disney cruises since then.

Because our first trip took us all day to get back home flying (and that was pre-9/11) we have always driven to the port from central Alabama ever since. So the morning we get off the boat, we jump in the car and get home some time late evening.

We especially like the timing for the 7 day cruises because we spend Saturday driving and still get Sunday before heading back to work.

In 2002, we spent the week before the cruise at WDW. In 2004 we are spending the week after our curise at WDW. I hope that will lessen the post cruise letdown.

July 01 stayed at the Radisson night before cruise. After East. Magic, we were very depressed but had a plane to catch. We said next time, we are adding a few nights at WDW. July 03 stayed at the Radisson night before cruise, West. Magic cruise and then 4 nights at OKW. This was perfect. If I have a choice, I will add WDW after the cruise. We plan on doing the samething in July 05 (WDW or HH).

Our first cruise was a 3 day one and we booked a late flight out and stayed at SeaWorld for the day. On our 2000 cruise we stayed at WDW for a week after the cruise, on our 2004 cruise we will be staying for the weekend..

Regardless of the length or destination of the Disney cruise I've managed to do a few nights at the World at BOTH ends! I just can't help it...I can't wait to get there and I never want to go home!

We have opted to fly out the same day as disembarking for the fact of having to pack/unpack AGAIN...
Doing four days on-land prior to the cruise for "insurance" purposes. (late flights etc.)

WOW!!!
17 years in a row......NO DISNEY ...this year...
Ok, we are going on the Disney Cruise, Easter 2004 7 night cruise.
NO DISNEY....going from Airport to Ramada Hotel at the port, and then after the cruise, one night at Ramada and directly to the airport!!! Saves a lot on car rental, shuttle, etc.......
Just can't imagine not going to Disney property!!!
Already going thru withdraws from Disney resorts, etc.

Hey!! Can't complain too much...going on a 7 night cruise is FANTASTIC!!!!::MickeyMo

we usually do 3-4 days in the parks before we cruise, one year we went to the space center after our 7 day magic but we found we were to tired to enjoy all the technical stuff we were looking at, plus it wasn't disney so that in itself was a let down, last year we did a night at the polyneasin and spent the day at the magic kingdom, its funny how we weren't to tired to enjoy that, well it was disney after all. we also did vero beach for 2 days but all in all we missed the excitement of the parks, vero is kind of laid back. this year since we'll be doing two cruises, one 4 day and one 7 day with 5 park days mixed in we'll be heading right for the airport after leaving the ship:wave2:

We are doing WDW before the cruise. That way we are there in the Orlando area well before the cruise departure date. We prefer to do the hectic land parks before the less hectic cruise.

We did WDW before the cruise and we found it was a great way to ease into the vacation mode...Also, we make sure that we don't miss the boat due to Minnesota weather by leaving early. We have never gone to WDW after a cruise. I say anytime is the right time...if you can extend the magic, go for it!!

we've done it both ways and enjoyed cruising last - best. Living on the west coast...it works well for us to head home on sat after the cruise. Then, we have sunday to unpack and re-coop before going back to work on mon.

We always arrive the day before the cruise and stay in Port Canaveral. After the cruise we always head to WDW if only for 3-4 days. It is to depressing to get off the ship and head right home.We arrive for our January 3, 2004 Western Cruise on January 2 and will not be leaving for home until January 14.

We stayed at the AS Movie in the Toy Story section Wed - Fri before our 7 day. We did DTD Wednesday, MK Thursday and planned on doing SW on Friday but decided MK was enough & just did DTD & the pool that day. We were rested enough for boarding Saturday morning. I would much rather go on another cruise than return to WDW. It was our first trip but was too overwhelming and DS wouldn't do most of the rides. We had to make him go into the shows & on the little tram ride in Tommorowland & he liked it but the day just seemed like a hassle. BTW, I would never make him ride something that I know would bother him. He didn't ride Dumbo because it went too high. He also enjoyed Mickey's Philharmagic without the glasses.

This year we are going to WDW two days early to stay at the Coronado Springs Resort. After the cruise (two weeks) we are staying three days at the Carribean Beach Resort.

This is an unusual year but we normally go a day early and stay a day over.

we actually went to Universal Studios after our DCL cruise. Our thinking was that we'd really like to experience Universal Studios sometime and what better time than after a whole week with the mouse & his friends! :-)

It worked out really well for us, our kids had A BLAST with the attractions and nothing can beat the "express pass" line (since we were staying onsite at the Royal Pacific Resort). Even in the heart of summer vacation, lines were never very long for us. I HIGHLY recommend this for a remedy to PCD (post cruise depression). :p

We're going on our first ever cruise in May. We are staying the night before at the Radisson and then just added on a few days post-cruise...it's too hard to be that close to the "world" and not go! Saturday after de-embarking we will just hang at the pool at the BC. We picked a park for one day (MGM) and our friends picked a park for the next day (MK) then we'll do DTD and fly home! Can't wait!
