Do most of you get rooms after 4pm?

I have never stayed at any DVC resorts and based on another thread, I am curious if this is the norm to get the room after 4pm.

In our prior stays at Comtemporary, BC, YC, and AS Music, the only time I remember we waited for our room was at Comtemporary. The memory is fading a little bit. I never paid attention to our check-in time, it was just whenever we were ready to check-in, but it was never late in the day.

For our Feb trip, I plan to be by BWV around 2:30pm. However, if there is a good chance that we won't get the room, then I have to figure out where to get our groceries or something to kill some time.

Thanks

I'd plan activities to fill time just in case the room isn't ready. Most of our stays have had a room available at or shortly after our arrival (we normally arrive around noon) - but there have been occasions when we've had to wait until after 4pm. There's no way to tell. It depends on a lot of factors...how busy the resort is, if housekeeping is fully staffed (wouldn't want a sick person working), condition the room was left by previous occupant - the list is almost endless.

Having a contingency plan is a good idea.

We've been members since 1995 and have never waited until after 4:00pm to occupy our room. One time it was very close to 4:00pm, but never later,

We've had to wait until after 4 on several occasions- at OKW, BWV and HH. One time it was almost 5pm. When we finally got in the room, it was apparent that the carpet must have just been cleaned- as there was a damp spot in the living room. We assumed it was a case where something had been spilled that required a lot more than vacuuming.

It is frustrating, but at times when the resort has been full the night before it is difficult to get all rooms cleaned between 11:00am and 4:00pm. Many don't vacate the room until right at 11:00 and when the room requires some "extra" attention, it can cause an unexpected delay.

We just leave our bags with Bell Services and take off for a park. We don't even check to see when it's ready- just come back after 4 to move in.

It varies, sometimes we have gotten the room early in the morning, but usually not until 4.

Only once did we get our room after 4. A pop star (at least she thinks she is) did some damage to the room and the manager finally came out around 5:30 to explain and offer compensation.

When we finally got in the room the coffee pot and toaster were brand new, this girl really knew how to party!

On average we get in well before 4:00. Sometimes there is a wait but so what? We are off playing and Bell servics has the stuff.

We have had to wait until near 5 pm only once so far. But it was well worth the wait. The only time I have been upset with the room we got was when we had a health request for a non-smoking room due to my son's heart defect. When we got into the room is was incredibly smokey due to the stove cleaning they had to do. In hindsight I should have asked for a different room at the onset but........ Of course, a couple of nights later the room was filled with smoke again from the wildfires near Disney.

When we had to wait, we just took the family to Downtown Disney and slowly, deliciously explored the stores and sights. We made wonderful use of our "free" time!!

:D

The check in times for the DVC resorts and the All Stars is 4:00pm. For the rest of the resorts, it's 3:00pm.

I've rarely had to wait for the room, but, if you have perishables, they have refrigeration available.

Yo! You can't just be teasing us like that. Inquiring minds want to know.

We drive straight thru the nite, usually check in sometime between 9-11:00 am. Have never gotten into room early but it's no biggie to us. We freshen up,then hit the parks. Some time near 4:00 we'll call the front desk and get our room number and when it's convienant for us we move into the room. After unpacking,we'll watch a little tv and call it an early nite. On the flip side, housekeeping does not get into my room before 11:00 on check out day.Front desk never hesitates to tell me check-in isn't until 4:00 so I don't hesitate to keep it till 11:00.

We have got into our unit as early as 11:30 (BWV) and as late as 5:00 (OKW) once. Most of the time we get in by 4.

Oh no, no names from me! ;)

...but her initials are C A and she used to be in the Mickey Mouse Club.

Other pop star sightings at Boardwalk:
Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits, very friendly!

Back in 95 when we first joined I got my room when we checked in which was around 10 to 11 in morning, those days are gone, about 5 times in a row I got my room at 4 p.m. The last 2 times it was at 2:30. I stay at the Hilton on Saturday, they have a system where you can pay more to check out later. I have been known to use that so it is close to 2 p.m. before I bother with DVC check in. One time I had a room at GF on Sunday night so when I checked into OKW on Sunday I just got the room and never used it. That really cut down on the frustration but can get expensive--renting a room without using it like I did even if it is for points. At the present time they are trying a new system of checking in which will work better for those of us that are looking for rooms before 4. Most resorts I try not to get to the resort until after the check in hour, my wife and I stay at casinos about 20 to 30 times per year. I have never arrived before check in--then again I never paid for a room there either which makes a big difference.

We have had only two stays so far but both times have arrived at 12:30 pm and our room was ready. I guess we were fortunate. One was at BCV and the other was the trip we just came back from at OKW.

We have checked in many times as early as 6:30AM, but didn't get into our room until 3:30 or 4PM. We always plan to arrive in the AM, park our car, go to a park, check back in the afternoon and head back if it is ready. If not, head to the pool for a bit or get something to eat.
