Do most guys have trouble with remembering plans?

My BF's dad passed away at the end of August. Knowing that Christmas was going to be tough, I suggested that my BF have a get together on Christmas Eve (something that he wouldn't normally do) and "change things up" a bit so it might be easier on his Mom (They currently live together). He is working Christmas Day. He liked the Christmas Eve idea (well, he jumps at any chance to spend time with me, because it's quite limited).

Last night we were talking on the phone and he said something about working at the hospital on Christmas Eve for a few hours. I asked what time and he said "probably 7pm till 2 or 3am" :confused3

I reminded him that we had made plans (I didn't care if he cancelled them with me but I don't want his mom alone all Evening and all Christmas day). Of course he said that he would see if he could get someone to cover his shift but I suggested that we have an early dinner and then he can go to the hospital and I will keep his mom company :lmao:

I wish I could have jumped through the phone and strangled him!! We live 260 miles apart and he calls me before switching work shifts to make sure I don't have a problem with it but he offers to work Christmas Eve after clearly making plans with me and his mother! Men! :goodvibes

Might be your BF's way of coping and he's just not thinking about it - staying busy on important days. I only forget the things I want to forget ;)

I lost my wife at a young age and was left with an 8 year old DD to help cope. The best advise I got about handling the holidays was to make a new tradition. We started skiing over the holiday each year and to this day my DD looks forward to the holidays! Haven't been able to these last few years but we will pick it up again as soon as we're able.

My DH doesn't remember anything I tell him. It can be really frustrating at times.

DH remembers nothing. He'll ask me the same question repeatedly. When we're going on vacation, he'll ask me every day (the week we're leaving) what time we need to leave for the airport. By the end of the week, I'm saying through clenched teeth, "We're STILL leaving at noon." :rotfl2: I've tried writing an itinerary for him but then he'll misplace it.
