Do men have to wear suits at Palo for dinner or brunch?

Now that we are Gold Castaway Members, I wanted to take advantage of going to dinner at Palo but my husband is not thrilled about having to pack a suit and dress shoes etc... So what's the most casual thing he can wear? Is the dinner dress code the same as the brunch?

No suit needed for palo. Actually jeans is now allowed but you have to wear dress shoes. Imo dress shoes with jeans looks dumb. Maybe it's the style now.

No, he does not need to wear a suit and it looks like the brunch and dinner dress codes are now the same. From the DCL site:

So that we may provide an enjoyable and refined dining experience for all Guests, please be advised that tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, shorts, hats, cut-offs, torn clothing, t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics, flip-flops or tennis shoes are not permitted at Palo or Remy. We thank you for your understanding and your cooperation with the following dress requirements

Palo Dinner and Brunch
  • Men: dress pants or slacks and collared shirt; jacket is optional
  • Women: dress, skirt or pants with a blouse
  • Jeans may be worn if in good condition (no holes)
Enjoy your dinner!

From the DCL website:

Dress to Impress
To preserve the elegant ambiance of this restaurant, you are asked to adhere to a dress code when dining at Palo. We recommend dress pants or slacks and a collared shirt for men, and a dress, skirt or pants and a blouse for women. Jeans may also be worn if in good condition (no holes). Please no tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, shorts, hats, cut-offs, torn clothing, t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics, flip-flops or tennis shoes.

Suit not required for either meal.

My husband wore khakis, a button down shirt, and brown loafers to Palo dinner in March. I think most men had on similar clothes.

I booked Palo on the same night as formal night so my DH only has to complain about getting dressed nicer once during the cruise and not twice.

But, in reality he doesn't have to dress up fancy for Palo. Or the dining room, either, for that matter. It's a "suggested" dress for dinner every evening. Some evenings the suggested dress is "formal". Most evenings the suggested dress is "cruise casual".

That said, you can really pretty much dress as you like for dinner any way you like, except in Remy.

Palo and Remy, they really do want pants and a decent shirt. But black tie is totally optional.

On our last cruise, my DH didn't want to pack dress shoes so he wore his sneakers.. when we checked in for our reservation, the cast member gave us the once over and said that sneakers were not allowed, but they had dress shoes available and asked for his size. They sprayed the inside of the dress shoes before handing them to my DH.. and once seated, we noticed a man wearing sneakers.. so we inquired.. we were told that he had a doctor note.. ok I get it.. some medical conditions require a special shoe...

never mind everyone! I just realized I read it incorrectly on the DCL site. Platinum gets a free Palo dinner, not gold. Oh well, we will wait for 5 more cruises :rolleyes1

We dressed up nice for brunch, my lady wore a nice dress and I wore suspenders and a tie. She likes to dress up and since there was only one formal night we took advantage. There were a couple other people dressed nice, and then some people just wearing slacks and polos.
