We are new to this Lego thing, but the kids have already put together Hagrid's Hut and The Burrows... now I am wondering if they ever go on sale after Christmas like the other toys...? This could get expensive!!!

I was at Walmart today and they had a ton of sets 50% off - Almsot bought a star wasr Big box kit for $16 for my little brother - had it in the cart and put it back..

Now is the time to look. They will sometimes go on clearance at Target as a part of their big Jan. toy clearance. Borders carries a small selection of them and offers 40 and 50% off coupons on single items occasionally.

I was just at Walmart and saw a guy with a cart full of legos walking out as I was walking in. I was going to go back and check it out, but forgot. :headache: Bummer!

I got a few small sets of Legos at Walmart today. There were a lot of sets, but my little guys are too little for regular Legos now so I practiced restraint. People were walking out with cartloads of toys. I never knew WM did a 50%off toy clearance like this!

Will have to be on the lookout next year!

You still might luck out-- they were constantly pulling items from the back to put in the clearance aisle. I was there for a long while this morning, looking at items and then putting them back!

This must depend on your WalMart. I've never seen Lego's clearanced anywhere that I've lived. I've learned...my kids build the spendy sets, then immediately tear them apart, never to be built again. I no longer buy sets.

Matter of fact, most of the legos my son gets now are from the Lego store...the buckets you can fill. If you keep the bucket and take it back to refill they give you a .50 discount.

I do see sales at the Lego store occasionally. All we have is an outlet...not the real deal...but even a few dollars off a set is better than nothing.

Absolutely. The LEGO Store clears out all discontinued stock at 50% off the day after Christmas. I went today and bought about $600 worth of LEGO for $300. These go fast, though, so you need to go in the morning. The LEGO Store has two clearances annually. The second clearance is in the summer, usually mid-June, but never announced (which in a way is a good thing).

They do it online too, but the sets that are available online (many were sold out online before the sale started, but stores still had/have stock) sell out very, very quickly. The little left is here: http://shop.lego.com/SalesAndDeals/. LEGO Stores at malls are matching all these prices and have additional items on sale, but, again, they sell out fast.

Target and Wal Mart also clear select stock. Wal Mart went straight to 50% today; Target stores are right now at 15% or 30%, but typically go to 50% right after New Year's and 75% the week after. But Target stores individually set when they go to the next discount percentage, so it varies by store.

The Harry Potter sets, however, are new, and will not be discounted extensively anytime soon.

We very seldom buy sets. My son would prefer to build his own creations anyway. We find them at garage and church sales (not that he needs anymore anyway..) but the $ set is only fun (at least here) once.
