Thank you for all of the yummy threads! I am looking forward to our eating adventures in WDW!

I'd like to try the 50's Primetime Diner for our big MGM meal. DS is 7 and DD is 5. Do kids of that age "get" the interaction? I saw a post on another thread where their 6 year old thought the people just weren't very nice...so it got me wondering.

FYI Both of my kids are very outgoing and love chatting with anyone and everyone.

LOL! - That was what I was thinking yesterday when I was telling the kids about this restaurant.

I was explaining about the 50's PT Diner and how the servers are kinda like actors and will tell you to "get your elbows off the table" or about the "clean plate club". Well the boys (7, 9 & 10 yrs old) looked very confused and kept asking questions. "Why do the do that?", "Who puts their elbows on the table". etc.

So, I think in this quick changing world that our children's generation doesn't know alot about the 50's. I think they would still have fun there but not really "get" it like we do.

I would say that Yes, 5 & 7 year olds would "get it". I know my kids did.

I too thought my boys were too young and wouldn't get it.
I went with my in-laws and with my two boys, ages 6 and almost 4. The 6 yo declared that this is now his favorite Disney restaurant (and as this was his 7th or 8th trip, he's got a lot to choose from!)
It probably is a little server dependent. Ours told my MIL to stop "picking on the boys". She said Disney was for children and we should let them enjoy it. My MIL got in trouble for her elbows on the table many times and even almost got put in the corner. The boys loved it. The 4 yo enjoyed it but didn't get it as much as his brother.

I agree it really depends on the server. Ours was great and picked on my mother and then 13 DS the most. DD who was 4 1/2 at the time loved it.

My son has always gotten the PTC. His first experience was at 3 and we go every time, again at 7 and 8. He loves it. Aunt Brenda is his favourite server (make sure you take note of the colour of the soap!).

My DD(8 at the time) loved cousin Dave. DH and I both got really in trouble last time and DD was laughing the entire meal. If you want to get in trouble order milk shake, spill some on table and you will have Dave on your case. DH was wearing a grumpy shirt and cap and forget it he was called every dorfs name in the book(really funny for a 6' 4" guy) and was told to remove the cap from his head before we were even seated. We love Dave. He doesn't care who you are and he stays true to character. And of course who can forget his famous quote, "love em like you mean it"

My neice stills remembers being made the "table Boss" when she was five :)

My son never had a problem with it there either--he could tell it was all in fun :)

I believe I was the one who said my DD didn't like it here. Let me qualify a couple things. She did "get" it, but just didn't like it. FIrst of all she wasn't feeling well that night (resp infection that we ended up at the doctor for later). She knew they were playing jokes, but she is just so soft-hearted, she doesn't like people to be made fun of, I guess. (My DS is another case!) We saw some videos on Funniest Home Videos the other night of little kids falling off things, tripping, sliding, etc. and she was very sad after she saw it because she hoped that no one got hurt. She just has a soft heart and because of that didn't see the humor in people being picked on. (I'm sure once she's a teenager, she'll find it hilarious to see her dad forced to eat his green beans!)

My sisters and I (20 and 2x14) both LOVED it there...

My one sister is a fussy eater, but you better believe she wolfed down her plate when our server brought out THE LARGEST DESSERT I HAVE EVER SEEN and told her she couldn't have any until she finished. Also make sure to wash your hands before your meal!

ps the glowing ice cubes from alcoholic/some non alcoholic choice drinks are really fun

We were in the World for my DD 9th birthday. She LOVED the place. We're going again in October, and other than breakfast with Jasmine, this is her only other request for eating. Of course, I'm sure the peanut butter and jelly milkshakes help...

Last trip DS (4 then) was a little shy and definately did not "get" the 50's theme (why would he?)
But he thought it was fun.
He enjoyed Sci Fi much more.
