Going to Alaska in July and trying to decide on hotels? I can get the Pan Pacific for $100 less. OR, has anyone stayed at the Pinnacle Hotel Vancouver Harbourfront....it is much less expensive. Please tell me the pros and cons of each. We have sailed DCL many times to the Caribbean but never to Alaska and we are at a loss as to where to stay and what to do. Thanks so much!

We stayed at the Pinnacle last June. It was a great location, but it is NOT where the Wonder docks. The other two are...especially the Pan. We stayed for $134 American. It is about a ten minute walk to where the Wonder docks. We walked with our luggage to the Wonder. Super easy! I would say it is a 3 star. Clean, great location, helpful staff, but the rooms were a bit dated. For the price, we were very happy with the Horbourfront.

The Pinnacle looks amazing.

Everything in downtown Vancouver is so close, and cabs are incredibly reasonable. Unless you're getting an incredible deal, I wouldn't ever feel the need to stay right there.

We recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency (club level, which was fabulous), and it was an 8 minute walk to the street Canada Place is on, and another 2 minutes to get to Canada Place. Easy, lightly downhill, walk.

There are tons of hotels in downtown Vancouver that I would stay at, and many of them I have, before a Fairmount or Pan came up in my brain.

We stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront hotel for both our 2011 and 2013 Alaska cruises with DCL. Fabulous hotel, amazing location, and a to die for breakfast buffet (not cheap!). The cruise terminal is directly across the street, literally 20 or 30 steps away, so great marks for convenience! This year, we are staying at the Pan Pacific as I was able to snag a really good BC resident rate. I've read nothing but excellent reviews, and the location is even better than the Fairmont as it is attached directly to the cruise terminal - you can take an elevator ride down for embarkation! We are really looking forward to our stay!

I don't think you can go wrong with either of these two hotels!

Thoughts....
Which cruise are you on? If the July 4th.... the Pan Pacific will have a fireworks show just West of the cruise terminal on Friday, July 1st.

We have only stayed at the Pan Pacific and the location can't be beat. Take the elevator to the 1st floor, then walk a few steps to the elevator that takes you all the way down to the cruise terminal. Or just have bell services take your bags directly to the ship. Either way, we love the convenience.

Another fan of The Pan Pacific here, so convenient with the port right there, you just have to go down an elevator and you are where you need to be.
We had a Harbor view, it can't be beat, I sat there for hours watching as they were preparing The Wonder for our cruise.
I opened the window and could here the announcements being made and the chimes before the announcements made me so happy. :)

We stayed at the Pan when we went in 2012. We loved that hotel -- the location is amazing and you just take the specially marked elevator in the lobby down to the cruise check in. You can call bell services to take your bags right to the ship and you won't have to worry with them until they are delivered to your stateroom. Very convenient all around.

We stayed at the Fairmont and really enjoyed the stay. In the morning we just walked across the street and we were at the cruise terminal. Have a great time!

We stayed at the Fairmont as well. It was a very enjoyable stay -- no complaints. Our room had a view of the pier. Sadly, they docked some other cruise line's ship directly outside our window -- rather than docking the Wonder there as they clearly should have done :p. Getting to the terminal from the Fairmont was also really easy (though there were issues with check in during our cruise so the terminal itself was its own special h-e-you-know-the-rest)

We stayed at the Fairmont waterfront prior to our cruise and LOVED it!! we got a great deal on a club level room so there was a lounge with amazing food options available. They have a wonderful outside patio area where you can see the Wonder dock. The little ones loved it. They also transported our bags to the ship for free and then we just walked across the street to the ship. Loved it. Enjoy your cruise!

Pan Pacific was awesome!
Sounds like you have several great options-not a bad problem :)

I would love to stay at the Fairmont or the Pan Pacific. However, I don't want to pay what they normally charge! I have stayed at the Westin Bayshore several times using Starwood points. I have also stayed at the Hampton Inn.

We stayed at the Pan Pacific for two nights before the cruise. We LOVED this hotel. The convenience cant be beat. However, it is not just that. The place is gorgeous and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I would never stay anywhere else if we ever go back. I will say it is pricey so if you are on a budget it will be a harder pill to swallow but since we booked so far in advance we got a decent rate and planned accordingly.

I don't like to think about what I paid back then for sure. The CAD was strong when we were there. Ugh...

That said, both the Pan Pacific, which had excellent service as well as location, location location and the Fairmont at the Vancouver Airport were worth it at the time (traveling with a child solo).

We stayed at the Pan last year and it was very nice and convenient. I got up early on departure day and watched the Wonder come into port with a few others. Great way to start out the cruise. View attachment 161332

We are staying at the Pan Pacific in July and I'm really looking forward to doing this as well. What time did you have to get up to watch the Wonder come in? Where's the best location to do this?

I was up at 5:30. I believe the Wonder came into view around 6:00. I viewed from the pool deck.
