Do I really need a bag to bring to the parks?

I just read a post from another mom who used to just carry what she needed in her pocket, before kids...which got me thinking....

My boys are six years old (triplets). So we are past the baby stage, and besides tickets and maybe some snacks/water (I know expensive, but would rather buy than lug around), camera and maybe ponchos what do I put in the bag?

I would rather be "bag free"....just bring my little camera case with room for the tickets and money. I don't even like bringing my pocketbook to the mall. :) Even when my triplets were babies, I carried a light diaper bag...probably smaller than most carried with one baby.

Am I being naive? What am I forgetting to put in a bag that would change my mind?

Thanks! :)

For me it comes down to "Can I afford to buy whatever I MAY need while in the park?" Items like Tylenol, band-aides, etc can be expensive IF you need to buy them while in the parks.

If you're like me and get stuck carrying everything for the rest of the party, YES!

I find a drawstring type backpack works great!

Used to use a FannyPack type but got to the point where it got so heavy it started hurting my back!

My boys love their Cargo Shorts because of the pockets. They could slip a snack or their sunglasses in a pocket. My husband has a cell phone case that clips to his belt loop. It could hold passes and cash as well. I've seen camera cases that clip too for a little more room. Sunglass straps would help also. You will have to buy water or drinks but I can see your arms swinging. Just make sure things are protected on wet rides, maybe bring a ziploc to tuck things into. Have Fun!!

Last I heard, they check camera cases at the bag checks too. Does anyone know if this is still true? I was considering going "bag free" sinly to avoid the bag check lines.

I just purchased the Overland Donner bag and love it. http://www.shoebuy.com/overland-equipment-donner/150844

I plan to put it around my neck/arm to be hands free as well. I like to carry my camera, motrin, a couple of snacks, gum, sunblock and some little things like that. I use to have a backpack but I don't like the idea of it hanging off my back anymore where I can't see it. Never know who's behind you in line and can get into it quickly. This bag is the perfect size and I can't wait to use it for my daughter's field trip as well.

Bandaids, sun screen, ponchos, extra batteries, extra clothing (i.e. a fleece or hoodie for if it gets cold).

My main need for a bag is snacks and water, though. My family drinks a lot of water. A day in a park, we probably drink 20 bottled waters between the 4 of us.

My hunnie and I got back 2 weeks ago, and neither of us carried bags. You have a lot less lines to wait in b/c you can walk straight through instead of having to wait and have your bags searched. You can get your packages sent to the front and pick them up when you leave the park, so that another factor you don't have to worry about.

Hi there, I vary between carrying a drawstring bag and just shoving things into pockets and my camera case. A couple of sticking plasters and some headache tablets fit into my camera case easily enough, and jumpers can be tied around the waist, so you remain hands free. My biggest problem is that i wear glasses so I often carry a normal pair and a pair of sunglasses (I can't see without my glasses).

You can carry bags on all the rides (whatever anyone else may tell you) dh often carries a huge bag - and he's taken it on everything at WDW (although it's different at Universal and I of A).

Bear in mind that you can hire a locker at each park, so you could do that and dump extra jumpers etc in them. (sorry I can't remember how much that costs).

Water bottles are refilable at drinking fountains (well that's what we do) and if you buy the ones with the fans and sprays that sell in the parks, they come with a lanyard so the kids can carry their own around their necks.

Hope this helps. Have a great time!
