Do I need a rental car?

We are thinking about going to DL this August. We would be flying into LAX and staying offsite but within walking distance of parks. We may go to Universal one day and possibly another day in LA to sightsee. I have looked into renting a car for the week but prices are atrocious! Just wondering if we could manage with Uber or Lyft for getting to a from LA for a day or two as well as airport or would it be a better idea to rent a car? If so, does anyone have a good code?
Also, were expecting hot weather in August while were there but is it really humid or is it a dry heat? Were from Ontario, Canada and our summers can be humid!

Dry heat in CA. there may be one humid day but that's the exception.

You can probably work out Uber XL from LAX to your offsite hotel.

If you're only spending one day in LA, maybe just rent a car for the day?

I use to be they type that got a rental car everywhere I went...kinda a control freak and like to be able to do my own thing. With the riser of Uber/Lyft...now no reason to get a rental (unless pricing is worthwhile) even ion coming into LAX. it is a $56 Uber Ride.

Agreed with above, look at getting a local car for just one day for Universal. Public transportation is pretty inefficient, shuttle buses are pretty limiting on times, Uber is doable but can add up vs the freedom of your own car.

Get a rental in the area for Universal day and your LA day. You probably want to do a few different things in LA so having your own car will make that nicer.

Uber/Lyft from LAX is fine. I’ve done it a couple times. My fam of 4 needed an XL with our 4 large suitcases + various carryons.

If you want a car for the whole trip ask over on the Budget Board for places to find deals on rental cars.

If you need to park at your hotel don’t forget to check what the parking fee per night is.

As said above, it’s a dry heat unless it’s a freak summer (like last year) and then it’s humid. The humidity and heat were relentless last year. No matter what the same rules apply: dress for summer, sunblock & water are your BFFs.
