I've been watching a ton of blogs, but haven't found this addressed. I will be at a Disney hotel, and would like to book Remy at 7:00am. I am NOT planning on buying Genie Plus. Will this hinder getting a "fancy ride"?

No, they are separate purchases. You can buy 1 or 2 Individual Lightning Lane selections and no G+, you could buy all 3 or you can just buy G+.

Also, before you buy Remy, try picking up a boarding pass in the virtual queue. I think it'll point you to that option inside the selection screen as well, but getting a boarding pass could save you money, or if you wanted to ride twice, you can do boarding pass plus ILL$

No, you don't need to buy Genie+ to buy Individual Attractions Lightning Lane passes. You can just use the free Genie touring plan and buy 1 or 2 Individual Attractions Lightning Lane passes in a day.

Just watching the virtual queue for Remy's this morning, looks like it took about a full minute to fill up, so as long as you're on right at 7, you should be able to get through for a boarding group pretty easily.

That would be similar to our experience. We were 3 for 3 getting a boarding group.
WE ranged from 11 to 54 and each time we had our BG by 5 seconds after 7. Still this is not as bad as trying to get RoTR BG when they had that.

Just want to let you all know that I woke up about 6:50 yesterday and tried to get set up for a Remy que. Couldn't do it because I had Magic Kingdom booked for my park. Ugh. In the thick of things I ended up cancelling that, booking Epcot and then managed somehow to get into a boarding group for Remy. My groups "time" was about 1:30, so I knew I would be stuck at Epcot for quiet a while. My group didn't board until 3:40 ish (ugh!).....but it was worth it. You really have to fly by the seat of your pants with this

If you had park hoppers you could have moved the park res back to MK

A lot of the vloggers did a pretty poor job explaining this. I'm looking at Kyle Pallo who kept saying you needed to buy Genie+ to have access to buy the Individual Attraction purchases (I.E 7 Dwarves and Space Mountain)

As stated you can use the free Genie service and buy the individual attractions a la carte without having to drop $15 for Genie+

So if I am reading this right. Your boarding pass was for 1:30 but you did not get on the ride until 3:40? Might as well just stick with standby. Virtual Queue sounds like it pretty much saving nothing time wise. Just make this standbye like ROTR.

When you get a boarding group, you get an estimated return time, but that can fluctuate based on a number of items, especially if ride breaks down. With the boarding group, you just go when you get the push notification.

If you get the ILL$ that time is more set, but if the ride is down during your return time, you'll get a pass to go back at any time during the day.

Remy also does not have stand by yet, so boarding group or ILL$ are the only options.

Our first day was similar. Initial estimate was to ride about 1:30, our group was called at 3:30 and we got on at 4:15. But, it had been down for a time late morning so that pushed everything back. Our other 2 VQ rides, we waited about 15 minutes once in line.
I don't mind the VQ except for the rush at 7 am to get a BG. However, the Remy BG are available much longer than RoTR ones ever were.
