Do I have to buy a magic band?

I have old tix that are not RFID. When I get to Disney and change these to the new tickets in order to get Fastpass plus and prebook FP do I have to buy a band or is there something for free they can give me that will work?

Also, I have read that I can't book FP unless I am at that park. So, on my first day I will be at MK and plan to be there day 4. Can I book day 4 MK Fp's while there? How will I get the other days when I go to HS, AK, etc? I am staying off site.

You don't have to buy the band, they will give you a card with the chip in it.

I can't answer the other question. Not sure.

Good to know. My kiddos don't like wearing bands and I don't want them in my pics, so a card works better for us!

If you're staying onsite, you will be given the option to get a MB, but you can opt out by not customizing them in MDE and then requesting an old-style room card when you check in.

You will be able to pre-select your FP+ when you link your tickets in MDE (if staying onsite). I was able to do this successfully with an older, non-RFID ticket. I didn't even need Disney IT to help me. But you would still need to exchange the ticket once you get to Disney so that it can be used to retrieve your FP+ at the attractions since you don't want MBs.

If you're an offsite guest, you won't get a MB right now. At this time, only a few offsite guests are being invited to pre-select their FP+ reservations. All others must choose them after they enter the park. You won't be able to choose more FP+ for another day. You will be limited to the day and park that you are visiting.

Even if you had bands no one requires for you to wear them. You could just put them in a bag if you carry one?

For offsite I am not sure the percentage of people who even get the choice of getting a MB.

Since you are offsite, every morning you get to the park you will have to go to a kiosk to make your fast pass choices.
