I'm waitlisted for Jan 30- Feb 1 for a studio standard view at GFV. Just 2 nights after our Disney cruise to celebrate DD's 16th bday which is on the 31st. The GF is her favorite resort & this portion of the trip will be a surprise for her. We can only do a standard studio because I only have 39 points to use. (saving the rest for Xmas 2014 trip)

Do I have any chance of this waitlist coming through? Should I just book a cash room through DVC? Is the room discounted if I do that? I'm also considering just booking through CRO with a code for 35% off for the GF, not the GFV. What would you do? How long should I give the wait list and should I book a cash room only just in case? :confused3

Thanks!

I had to book a night (12/11) in cash in the middle of the week. I did it months ago and had the night waitlisted. WL did not come through.

My thought was I could cancel the cash ressie if WL did work.

Basically I say book the room cash, thru DVC and get the ressies linked, hope you do not have to move.

Thanks! Do you know if they offer a discount for DVC members booking the GFV cash?

We had good luck....I wait listed a standard view studio for 2 nights before our WBPC in May. The 2 nights became available within 2-3 weeks. I would give the wait list a chance.

I believe I got a discount, but I am not really sure. I did not ask because I was doing it either way.

You might have better luck, as mine was for December, and booked when only VGF members could book. Now that things have opened up more, there may be more changed.

What to do would depend on the cash ressie cancellation policy. As long as you can get your money back should the wl come through they only thing you would be doing is 'loaning' disney the money for a bit.

I would book cash and waitlist. I just go back and because of a work conflict, only made my reservation about a month ago. I wanted a BWV studio, none of the 5 nights were available for points. I booked a 35% off AP rate. I waitlisted all 5 nights and stalked the website. One day nights 3, 4, 5 were open (pool/garden view), so I booked them and changed the waitlist. Then night 2 came through, booked it and changed the waitlist. Night 1 came through on the waitlist and they automatically merged my reservations (not linked, they actually cancelled the other 2 and made one 5 night reservation). I was thrilled because the AP rate was $285 a night with tax! Vs 75 points for 5 nights!
