Do girls wear princess dresses at parks?

Hi folks,

My dear friend and her 6 year old daughter will be joining my family for a few days at WDW in May. I booked the storybook lunch in Epcot. Should I tell her to bring a princess dress for her daughter? If so, does she wear it all day at the park?

We have two boys, so this whole princess thing is new to me!

Also, if there are any special suggestions for making their trip magical please let me know. They will be with us for four park days, and we plan to do one day at each park, and she is princess crazy!

I have seen many little girls running through the parks with their princess dresses on....it is so cute!

Yes, we also saw many girls running around with dresses on too. But depending on how hot it is and how itchy the dress is your friend might want to bring a change of clothes OR just put clothes under the dress. I've done both.

Dd did if for the last day after her princess tea party. She wore it with tennis shoes and we had a locker with reg clothes in it for if/when she wanted to change. She loved it!!!! She got a lot of attention from the cast members, a couple of guy c.m. bowed to her and she just giggled and said she wasnt really Aurora. If they want to try it go for it!

We had breakfast had CRT and dressed our three year old as a princess. It added to the excitment for her. Disney is a magical place so there is nothing wrong with dressing up. Besides it makes great photos with your princess and the castle in the background.

Now I have been trying to get my wife to dress like princess Yasmine for the next trtip but I think I am pushing it!

My neice who was 6 last year wore a Sleeping Beauty dress that her mom made for her (the store bought ones were all too short for her long legs!!!). She wore it the whole day (tiara and all) and got sooo much attention from the cm's. The guy on buzz lightyear gave her an hawaiian lei and escorted her to her car because it was "princess day on the ride". The talking trash can followed her around tomorrowland telling her that she was in the "wrong land"! She really got a kick out of that. After a few minutes, she yelled at him that she really wasn't Aurora, she was Shayla from Ohio, and asked him to please stop calling her Princess Aurora. (she has a short temper sometimes!!!). Then in the Princess room, she got to meet Aurora. She spent close to 10 minutes with her talking about how she really must be a princess to have a "queen" for a mother to make her such a beautiful dress. The photographer in Mickey's tent was also amazed by her dress. He was so busy talking to my sis about how nice it looked that he forgot to take Shayla's pic with Mickey!

I bought $25 Cinderella dresses for both my daughters to wear to CRT and two $60 dresses (see below) for My Disney's Girls Perfectly Princess Tea Party. I was glad I let them stay in the Cindy dress for the day instead of the $60... by the end of the day it was pretty tattered but they loved the attention! Towards the fireworks they started to get antsy so I changed them into jeans and a shirt and tossed the dress.

Just, PLEASE, tell her to have her DD wear comfortable shoes! That will ruin the day if her feet hurt in an hour, ya know?!

Your DS's could dress up like a prince too...that would be way too cute!

PSA: Definitely don't wear any dress up shoes.

At Halloween DD wore Snow White play shoes to our fall festival at church.

At the end of the hayride she jumped off the trailer...and started screaming. The shoes had dug INTO the tops of her feet. She had matching blisters on each foot. When the scabs started coming off several days later, they would come off when taking off her socks. At karate another kid was helping her get ready, and pulled off both socks. Her feet started bleeding profusely- I had to interrupt another class to find the first aid kit, and another mom (a nurse) had to help me with it.

Anyway, it's what, 2.5 months later, and she has scars on her feet from that. I will never, ever let her wear dressup shoes anywhere other than playing around the house.

I've seen lots of little girls wearing their princess dresses in the parks. I'm sure it makes for cute photos too when they meet Cinderella wearing the same outfit!

Thanks everyone, for the advice and tips. I will definitely suggest she pack a princess dress (but maybe not her best one if she plans to wear it all day) and leave the dress up shoes at home!

I say a big YES to the costume!! Our DD wore her cindy dress to CRT breakfast and from the moment we entered the park the CM' s gave her extra special treatment. Hello Princess, You're highness...etc were typical greetings...part of the magic! We also got to pilot the monorail..I think the dress helped. And at breakfast the princesses were all commenting about the dress and giving her pointers on how to be a princess since she already has the gown.
DD also wore her minnie dress to Chef Mickey's for dinner and the characters really had fun with her! I would definately reccomend a costume that is a character that is at that meal. We have the best pictures..and she was the only child dressed for this meal so it was so much fun!!!!!!
I figure if I could run around the park dressed as a princess all day I sure would do it! Why shouldn't she?

Forgot to add that throwing a change of clothes or easily slipped on sundress in the backpack saved the rest of her day after breakfast especially in the AUGUST heat. The dress gets heavy and scratchy in the heat.

My daughters went to that in May and did wear their dresses.We'll be back there in May again minus the dresses,they take up too much room in the luggage.

My DD4 wore her Belle dress, Minnie dress, Aurora dress and Snow White dress through the parks on 4 different days! She loved it and I loved getting use out of her costumes and dress up clothes. It was lots of fun for all of us!

Aw, I used to wear my Disney Princess costumes to the parks every day when I was little But my little cousins don't... and they're like 2 & 5 year old girls.

Even my brothers would wear costumes haha.

We were at the parks last December and we saw lots of girls dressed up (not many boys). Our son (6) loves dressing up and alternated between a buzz outfit, captain hook and Peter Pan.
