Hello All,

We are going to WDW in Jan. 2014. We are considering staying at Ft.Wilderness. My father will need to rent a scooter. He is mobile, but can't walk for long distances. Just wondering if we will be able to take the water taxi to the Magic Kingdom with his scooter or if he will only be able to use the bus system.

Hoping someone knows. This is our first trip with my dad using a scooter and not sure of all the restrictions he will face. It's his first trip and I don't want him discouraged or frustrated.

Thanks for all your help!

You should be fine. They have two diffrent size boats servicing the Fort. The smaller boats run between Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge, and The Contemporary. These smaller boats cannot accomodate ECVs. But there are larger boats running between MK and WL, and MK and FW. The larger MK boats have space inside towards the front for ECVs.

Yea, as long as it is a mid to compact size scooter you will fit on the large boats that go between the MK and FW. You will be fine. :moped:

We had no issue with getting around with someone on an ECV due to a knee surgury for out stay. You can get to all the normal places, you just have to use other routes then you normally would think when you want to get to resorts that normally you would go by boat. But using the MK boat you can still easilly get to the contemporary and wilderness lodge.
