Do Dooney and Burke purses ever go on sale (at Dillard's) ?

I have a Dillard's giftcard that I must use to buy a Dooney & Burke purse. Will they ever be on sale or are they one of those items that never goes on sale?

Dillards is the same as May Co, Meier & Frank, etc.

In my experience, they NEVER go on sale... it is the same with all the expensive bags, or luxury items like that. Sorry.

If Dillards is a May company, then they do go on sale. We have some now on sale. Coach too.

Dillard's is not a May Co. store. It is very similar to May Co. stores. I have never seen D&B on sale at Dillard's, but that does not mean they do not go on sale. I just haven't seen it happen.

Every once in a while I find one with a yellow sale tag that I like at Dillards. Maybe 15-20%. I think they just discount the ones that are discontinued or not selling well.

I remember once they ran some special promotion where if you spent over $200 on a D&B, you got a $25 gift card or something.

This spring Dillard's ran a promotion that gave you $$ off of a new purse if you brought in an old purse. I don't remember the exact amounts but the more expensive the new purse was the more you got off. I believe that it was good on all the purses that they sell. Go in and ask a friendly salesperson. I've had really good luck with having a few "friends" who will give me a head's up when things that I like are going on sale.

It used to be that the stores never put these on sale. In the past year, I have seen Coach, D&B, and other high-end purses put on sale once in awhile. I agree that it seems to be the items that aren't moving that get marked down.

I know that this will not help with your gift card, but Dooney and Bourke has several outlets including one in Orlando at the Premiere Outlet Center. You can get some really good deals there. I visited one near me in Reading, PA and got a $285 Dooney that was on special for $100.
QVC outlets also carry Dooney bags at 25% off the on-air price. Several times a year they run an in-store special of 30% off the entire store and this includes Dooney. About three weeks ago, they had a special promotion of 40% off their in stock bags. They must have had over 100 bags. My daughter got a $225 hobo bag for $95

I haven't looked lately, but the Dillard's in our town usually has some of the discontinued styles on clearance, around 25-30% off. I once bought a $235 bag for around $150, but that was a long time ago. (Now I can get them through a relative for 50% off- any style-Yippee.!!!!) I LOVE D&B's new IT backpack-I have one on order w/matching wallet. I would NOT pay full price for such an expensive purse, couldn't do it...

Regarding handbag designers that absolutely will not discount-like Gucci, or LV, I wonder what they do with the handbags that don't sell-destroy them???
