Do Disneyland Hotel rooms have balconies ...and GC question...??

Just weighing up staying in the Disneyland Hotel which seems to have nice eateries and GC which has maybe more luxurious rooms.

Do the Disneyland Hotel rooms have balconies? I see that they do not have a double vanity area. Any other info about these rooms?

How do the DL Hotel rooms compare to GC. In the floor plan available from DL official website, there is only one double bed. Are rooms with two double beds available at GC?

All in all, counting recreation, eateries and rooms which hotel would you prefer?

Thanks

My parking-lot-side room in the Marina tower had a sliding door to a 'balcony' that was about 1 foot deep. Nothing to write home about. Couldn't sit on it. No balcony at the DLP/Paradise Pier.

I have not been to the GC yet, can't compare. I like the Disneyland Hotel very much. The place is old, but has been refurbished and the atmosphere is nice. The regular rooms at the DLH are large - some have day beds so you can sleep 5 adults. We were very comfortable at the DLH, sharing 2 adjoining rooms between 3 adults and 4 kids.

We have stayed in two of the towers at the Disneyland hotel. The rooms are big here... bigger than any I have stayed at in WDW. There are no balconeys but the sliding doors open up in two directions and there is a railing right there. I thought this would be not as nice as a balconey but we really enjoyed it alot. It brings the outdoors in. :) The bathrooms in the Bonita tower were a standard hotel bath but there was a nice wet bar at the entrance to the room. in the marina tower the bathrooms were much bigger with two sinks, a tub and a seperate room with the toilet. There was no wet bar at the door though.
I have not stayed at the Grand Californian yet. I will be there in two weeks. These rooms are smaller than at the Disneyland hotel but do have balconies. Dan

Ooops. Sorry. The Sierra Tower is the one with the bigger nicer bathrooms. I have not stayed in the Marina Tower....yet.

I just stayed at the DL Hotel a couple of weekends ago and was SO impressed with the refurbishing they've done! The room had two queen beds on the same platorm style frame that the beds at the GC had, a daybed, double vanity sink and separate bathroom. The new carpets, wallpaper and bedspreads all matched beautifully. This was a great improvement over a suite I had stayed in the previous year, which was huge but worn down. I do love the grounds of this hotel as well, with the koi ponds and Fantasy Waters shows.

I've also been in the rooms at the GC and they are also gorgeous. Not as big as the ones at the DL Hotel (no daybeds) but they do have FULL balconies of varying sizes in the vast majority of the rooms. The hotel itself is nicer overall, I think, with it's very dramatic lobby, and the service is impeccable. It's also more convenient with the special entrance into DCA and Dowtown Disney. I really like the Storyteller's Cafe, have eaten there three times now, and the Hearthstone Loungs is wonderful as well. I'd pick the GC if the daybed is not an issue, but the DL Hotel is a close second. Good luck deciding! :)

We have stayed at both. I loved them both for different reasons. I do have to agree the service is impecible at the GC. Not that it is bad at the DL hotel but then again it should be better as you are paying more to stay at the GC. Both rooms I feel are pretty standard hotel room size. I haven't been to the DL hotel since the rooms have been renovated but always enjoyed it before. Both rooms had deluxe amenities and turn down service at night. We did have a great balcony over the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney, on the 5th floor. It had a table and a couple of chairs.
