Does anybody "walk" their reservation at the really tough to get resorts/times anymore?

I am in the process of doing so to get a ADR at LaCellier and I just wondered if any one uses the process to get the tough ones at say, AKV concierge.:confused3

I don't understand how you'd walk a dining reservation? Unless you mean booking a hotel room for earlier dates than you need so that your 180+10 window is expanded? I can understand going through that trouble to get a hard-to-book room reservation, but I can't imagine going through that much trouble to get an ADR at Le Cellier!

Amen, Sista! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

As to walking DVC resort reservations, we did it for our December 18-January 1 stay. We only had enough points to stay in a standard view at BLT, so we walked it. Because of the walk, I think I ended up making 21 calls (first to walk, and then to extend my trip out for the full 14 nights). It was a pain and I felt very silly bothering MS every day, but I was glad I did it to ensure that we were able to stay the dates that we wanted in a standard view (because of the high point differentials between standard and lake view at BLT, and the fact that we were in holiday season, not getting the standard view would have resulted in having to cut our trip short by several days). Going forward, though, I doubt we'll ever have a need to walk our reservation again but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to do it if I was in a similar situation. Happy planning. :goodvibes

Walking an ADR? Nope, there are too many restaurant choices to care THAT much about dinner/lunch.

I did walk our 1 week reservation for AKV concierge studio for next March. Only took me 3 phone calls total to get it done.

Bingo!! We are going to the World on Oct 30 for 13 days and arrive at 5:15 after a 6 hour flight from the west coast. We are paying cash for the first night at a non DVC resort, this time French Quarter, this way we are experencing all the onsite resorts. Well I asked my bride:lovestruc where she wanted to eat, she says "LaCellier, I love the bread sticks".
Well I am checking online 2 week previous to the time we will be there( to get some idea how hard it will be at 180 days) and I am unable to get anything except lunch time. :scared1: So off to the dinning DIS board, "Hey is it that hard to get a evening ressie there, I ask?. :rolleyes1Yep they say. So I get to thinking, "well I am already booked and paid for one night, maybe I can hold 11 days forward with my already paid night". Call Disney and ask to add 11 days and hold it with my already paid night, "yep that works" they say. :rolleyes1 So I now have a 12 day stay at French Quarter secured by the one night on the 30th. Off to dinning and because of the 189+10 I can now get the exact time she need for her breadsticks. :dance3: Now I will cancel all the previous days I don't need, she will have her ressie at LaCellier, 7:35 for 2, and she is so happy.:lmao:

Hence "walking a ADR". Never walked anything before, now maybe a AKV conciege suite, or a New Year/Christmas WV or BWV room. The points are the limit!!:rotfl2:

Good thing I only have one wife.:rotfl2:

Funny thing is I really don't even like the place that much.:confused3

Are you trying to get La Cellier for you first day? If so that is the only way this makes sense to me.

I was trying to get, and got it, the ressie for the 30th, the only day we are acually staying there. When I checked at the present 180 mark there were no ADRs to be had and I was afraid when I got to my 180 I wouldn't get the ADR because the 180+10 people would have already taken them. I think the reason they are going so fast is Wine and Food Festival.
