I saw an ad on tv last night about sheer cover and I am thinking about trying it. I have used the Mary Kay mineral powder foundation and I like it, but I thought about trying this. Do any of you have experience with it? Did you love it? Hate it?

I have incredibly sensitive skin!! Everything makes my skin break out in hives or rashes. Mascara makes my eyelids peel, blush makes my face break out in hives. I've tried everything from Mary Kay, Jaffra, Clinique, Lancome and I had honestly given up.

Then I heard about Bare Minerals and thought I'd give it a try. Sales woman applied it and told me to go home to see what would happen. It felt great! No burning, no rash, no irritation. I'm careful how often I wear it, only 2-3 times a week, but over all it works great. It doesn't get into your pores so there's no chance of pimples. You truly get a nice even color and a clean finish.

The only thing I've heard is that you need to change your brush every 3-6 months. Otherwise the makeup will cakeup on the brush and you will get a rash where you apply your make up.

I don't use that particular brand of mineral makeup, but I use the L'Oreal version (Bare Natural I think it is called). I have the foundation, concealer and translucent powder and I absolutely love it. The foundation has SPF 19 and you need very little of it. Powder works well on its own too if you don't want to use the foundation everyday. Concealer gives nice coverage.

I use Sheer Cover. I love it for the fall and winter but, I don't use it in the spring or summer. I tend to just use moisturizer for the warmer months.
I ordered it online the first time and then I saw that our Linens and Things carries it as well. They carry quite a few infomercial items. I just cancelled the membership with Sheer Cover and get it from there.
I have really sensitive skin and it works great for me.

I love Sheer Cover too. I think it has a great natural looking coverage, and it doesn't irritate the skin at all.

I don't wear makeup anymore (never did much anyway) but I used Sheer Cover before and had no complaints.

I also liked Everyday Minerals, where you can (or at least you COULD) get a sample pack of a whole bunch of stuff for just the cost of shipping (like $3?).

I haven't tried Sheer Cover, but I love Bare Minerals and Pur Minerals. I'm leary of ordering off TV and being on auto replenshipment, so I buy my stuff at Ulta. I'll never go back to regular foundation again.

I have not used this brand, but I have used mineral foundation for about a decade now. I used to have to get it from an aesthetician, but now they are available in drugstores and there are multiple brands to choose from.

Unfortunately, I have found most brands do not have the same coverage, nice dewy finish or staying power as the original I used, La Bella Donna Loose Mineral Foundation. It's expensive though, about 50.00.

Bare Escentuals is a close second though, and less expensive and can be ordered through Sephora and comes in "starter packages" if you want to try the whole line.

The L'Oreal has been very disappointing. It's very chalky and doesn't stay on.

So, I am sticking with the Bare Escentuals, personally. If you like the Mary Kay, you may want to just stick with it.

I have the same problem!! But I LOVE bare escentuals. It is the best! And I love how it looks on my skin. You can buy some on Ebay as well if you just want to give it awhirl. I refuse to wear any other makeup. I've used Arbonne in the past and that is ok..but Bare escentuals in the best.

Thanks for the info guys! I do like the Mary Kay, so maybe I should just stick with it for now. I think I need a lighter shade though. I have never used any type of foundation before, so this is all new to me. There is only one shade lighter than I use though. I don't want to look washed out.

I've used Arbonne, Jane, and Bare Escentauls. I like Bare Escentuals the best, but somtimes I feel like any mineral powder accenuates my dry skin and fine lines. Maybe I'm using it wrong. My kit came with a DVD, but haven't watched it.

Pure Luxe, DreamWorld Minerals, Everyday Minerals, and Meow Minerals all sell samples very cheaply and don't contain bismuth, like Bare Escentuals. A lot of women are sensitive to bismuth, especially in warm weather and besides bismuth is just a filler and not good for your skin. I usually try to avoid any mineral makeup with bismuth listed as one of the ingredients.

For the poster that said she didn't use mineral makeup in the summer. Is your skin dry or oily? If it's dry look for a mineral makeup that has silk as the primary ingredient, but if it's oily look for something with more kayolin clay in it to absorb the oil. Also be sure to apply a light primer before you apply the foundation and eyeshadow. Make sure your makeup is all natural minerals and doesn't have alot of fillers in it, like bismuth or any of the cones (silicone, dimethacone, etc)

Go to makeupalley or makeuptalk.com and check out the reviews on Sheer Cover. I''ve never used it, but it does not get good reviews on either site. On makeupalley only 43% out of 167 say they would repurchase it and it had only a 2.9 rating. The comments I just read on it, say it doesn't blend as well as other mineral foundations, is too shimmery, and has a tendency to turn orange after wearing it for awhile.

Thanks, but no I just love mineral makeup and have a huge collection of it. Go to makeupalley.com or makeuptalk.com and check out the reviews for different mineral makeup brands. Just type in the word mineral at makeupalley and go to the mineral makeup forum on makeup talk. The Delphi forum also has a good mineral makeup forum: Mineral Makeup Mania, that has alot of good information on different mineral makeup companies.

As far as mascara, sorry, but I always use waterproof. I wear contacts and my eyes water alot, so waterproof mascara is the only thing that keeps me from looking like a raccoon. FYI: Shiseido makes a fabulous mascara primer called 'Curl, Curl, Curl toward the Sky' and a waterproof mascara Majolica Majorca Neo Lash Extender 'My Lashes Extend Elegantly'. Together, I guarantee you, your mascara will never, run or flake. They are waterproof and almost impossible to get off. The only thing I've found to take it off is Kanebo Freshel White C cleansing oil, followed by regular cleanser. The mascara comes off easily with the Kanebo oil, but that's the only thing that will budge it. Waterproof mascara removers, vaseline, cleansing creams, etc won't budge it. Blinc also makes a mascara that, while I believe it is waterproof, simply coats your lashes in little tubes. They wash off easily with soap (or cleansing cream) and water though. It sounds strange, but the Blinc stuff stays on really well and looks great. I don't use it very often just because I have a tendency to rub my eyes and sometime the little tubes on my lashes will come off. The Shiseido stuff never rubs off. You could wear it for a week and it would still be smudge free. Really good mineral makeup is going to be waterproof and sweatproof, so the only thing that really takes it completely off anyway is cleansing oil, followed by cleansing cream, so I don't mind using the Kanebo Freshel White C to take off my mascara at the same time.

I LOVE my everyday minerals and it's less expensive than most and contains no bismuth which is what causes bad reactions in some people. I just got a 12 pc full size kit from everyday minerals for $50!! :cool1:

Another Bare Minerals user here. I never worn make-up until I got a job where I would be working with the public quite a bit. I decided to try Bare Minerals after trying regular foundation and what a difference!!!! I bought a starter kit from QVC for $30 that came with foundation, mineral veil and warmth. I've been using it for 4 years now and constantly get compliments on my skin...most people don't even know I'm wearing make-up! I would totally recommend getting a small, inexpensive starter kit from QVC. I've priced Bare Minerals everywhere and it's the cheapest place, even with shipping.
