Do Any of You Know who "Parson Brown" is?

I had this discussion with some kids from school a few months back, and we have no idea who he is.

I just looked it up, and now I'm sad.
I spent my entire childhood contemplating that serious question.

until one of my friends told me [his brother takes latin...?]
that 'parson' is a title for like a priest and 'Brown' was just his name...
so it's like Priest Brown or something like that...
