Do any new gas grills use lava rock?

We need to replace our old sunbeam gas grill. It needs too many parts to put that much money into it, so we are looking for another basic, small two burner gas grill.
All the grills I see now no longer use lava rock or ceramic briquettes. Are there any out there that still use these?
Also, what about electric grills? How do these compare to gas grills, and can you use lava rock or briquettes with them?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

No lava rock any more. They now use what are called "flame tamers". That is the v-shaped metal that is sitting on top of the burners. These heat up and distribute the heat as well as keep the grease drippings out of the flames.

You can get aftermarket ceramic tiles which work well from what I've read. You put a secondary grill above the burners instead of the flame tamers and these ceramic tiles distribute the heat.

Lava rock is just old tech. Gas grills have come a long way since the old days of lava rock.
