Do any members ever trade places?

After reading several threads about how difficult it is to make reservations at a non home resort (especially BWV), has anyone ever made a deal with another member to trade reservations? For instance, if someone from VWL wanted a GV, maybe they could have an OKW member reserve at the 11 month window in return for reserving a 2BR at the 11 month window at VWL. The difference in points would have to be worked out, but as I understand it members can transfer points between each other. Has anyone ever tried this? <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused"> I would like to do a beach cottage at VB some time, but I assume that is as hard to get at the 7 month window as a GV at OKW.

Yes, this has been done in the past. You can post on the DVC Rent/Trade Board and see if you can work something out. Good Luck!

Correct me if I am wrong here, but one thing to keep in mind is that you each would have to make the reservation for the other under your own contract. For instance, if you wanted to exchange points ahead of time for the same year people have reported that MS views this as 2 transfers per year. Example you transfer your points is 1 transfer and then when they would transfer points to you that is considered 2 and not allowed. As long as you trust the other member involved you should have no problem. If there is a point difference you could make one tranfer to even it out between the 2 of you.

LooHoo is correct. MS will allow only 1 transfer per year- either into or out of your contract. They will not allow a true exchange of points as that would effectively be 2 transfers.
You will have to make a reservation for the other party and they for you.

We were going to do the same thing with another DVC member. We wanted a GV at OKW (point value much lower). The other member was going to make the ressie in his account for us and we were going to transfer the points to his account. (Then a family emergency came up and we could do it)
