do Amur Maples flower?

We bought a couple of what we think are Amur Maples. There is a tag and picture on each tree that says it is.

The tree is flowering and my neighbour says Maples don't flower. Dh says thats right, Maples don't normally flower but this one does.

Now I'm not so sure what we have. I can't believe that both trees which are exactly alike were both labelled wrong.

Yes, Amur maples flower. They're a beautuful shrubby maple tree, and the flowers should be creamy colored, in clusters, and have a nice fragrance. They're a terrific little tree. You made a great choice.

By the way, all maples flower. It's just most are so small and similar in color to the new leaves, they're not really noticed.

My neighbour works in a greenhouse and both her and her husband thought we had a mayday tree. She is bringing a sample in for her boss to confirm what we have. It'll be interesting to see what she found out tonight. But I already have my answer.
