We just return from the 7 night western on 11/13. Our dinner servers always had some time of magic trick (even the head waiter came around with one). My 3 sisters have been on the Wonder and said they never had this. Do they just do this on the Magic?

We just returned from 10-31. No magic tricks.... I think its very cool. My DD loves magic.

We went on the Wonder 9/19/04 and our server Juan performed magic tricks every night. They were great! The kids and adults were both thinking hard to figure it out. When we went on the Wonder May 2003 we didn't have any tricks. We asked our server and he said they did teach the servers on board.

Have been on three cruises and have yet to get a server or assistant server who performed magic tricks :(

We did receive a few magic tricks on our first cruise on the Wonder. They were very basic but still entertaining to the kids.

No magic tricks on our second cruise aboard the Magic but the servers did goof around with the kids plenty to help entertain them.

Therefore, there was no magic on the Magic because the magic was on the Wonder. Got that!

Magic Eastern 10/16/04
Our Head Server, Simon from England, came by our table almost every night to show us a magic trick. They were kind of like brain teaser puzzles that he would tell us to try to figure out and he would come back later to see if we got it. Our Server, Carmen did a trick one night too.

I wonder if it depends on the rotation. On our first 4 cruises we never had Magic tricks. On our last cruise we were on the little children's rotation (so that we could have Formal night in Lumieres). Our Asst. Server was doing magic tricks every night. So maybe they assign those who are best with tricks etc. to the little kids rotation.

On our 3 night Wonder cruise, our server, Romi, did a magic trick with something that glowed inside of his hand. He was very good at it. He made it disappear and reappear at different places. The morning that we disembarked, our assist server, Natalie, didn't do a magic trick, but she did make the most incredible paper napkin rose that I have ever seen. There was a young boy at the table next to us that liked my DD12. So Natalie made a rose and told my daughter that the rose was from her secret admirer.

Magic is my DS's hobby. He was 16 at the time of the cruise. Our server Roberto, and Head server Maclean did some basic tricks, DS took over from there. We had late seating and after dinner every night had a crowd of passengers and servers around our table, a couple of nights we were there until 11 pm. Had a table of 20 next to us from South America, they spoke little english, but kept telling our son "more tricks".

In 6 cruises on he Magic we have never had a magic trick but I really haven't missed them either. We did have servers who taught my daughters to fold napkins to make various things and they really enjoyed that but no magic.

I doubt it is based on rotation as the servers move around from one rotation to another at times...

I think it totally has to do with the skill and enthusiasn of the individual servers....some like to do them and are good at it while others don't have skill/desire.

In 12 cruises we have some that did them some did not but never had a bad server!!!

First cruise on the wonder no magic trick, last year on the magic, the head server came by with tricks, the kids loved it. We did have late seating, and I would think that they have more time on that seating than on the first one.....

1st trip - no magic, but she taught napkin folding to dd
2nd trip- no magic. There were lots of balancing tricks, pranks (rubber chicken under the dome & fake spillings) which included all of us and jokes.

I guess it depends on the comfort level and personal interests of your servers.

We were on the 7 day Magic Halloween cruise and our asst server did tricks as well as our head server, Simon, who did brain teasers. Our server did napkin folding and put them on some of the our heads.

Our Server Toto did different magic tricks for my DS every night at dinner. Then he would laugh hysterically at the expression on my DS's face. Then because his laugh was so infectious (really high pitched with a fast giggle), we would start laughing. He was 4 at the time. Now he's 7 and he still talks about Toto and the magic tricks. We all loved him and the magic tricks. We had wonderful, magical evenings we will never forget.

Our serving team on the wonder was not perfect (forgot to bring a bottle of wine, and a few other sort-of-biggies) but did do some fantastic magic tricks - I thought it was much more common...

Our assistant server, Paola from Mexico, did magic tricks for us just about every night. My girls loved it!
