Do Airtran fares tend to fluctuate?

or have you found they stay about the same until sold out? We are traveling in June and have found a decent fair (not cheap by any means). I have never used Airtran and am wondering if they just have a certain number of seats for each fare until they are sold out or if they tend to change the price. I checked with other airlines, and the cheapest I found was $100 more per person than Airtran. Any experienced Airtraners out there?? TIA

I think the fares increase as the available seats decrease. I used to fly ATA and that was how they operated. So, I wouldn't expect the fares to fluctuate down.

Airtran goes up and down daily! I have found them to be cheap one day, and twice the amount the next.

If you see a price that you feel is OK then go ahead and grab it. With fuel prices skyrocketing it is more than likely the direction of airfares is up and up and up some more.
AirTran is a fine airline with newer planes. Their employees are very friendly and helpful.
The only downside is that they are constantly changing their schedules. We always take their first flight out since this changes only a little either way, if at all. During the day their changes are sometimes very dramatic. Last June for a return flight we debated whether to take the 2pm or 4pm flight. Luckily we decided on more time at WDW and took the 4pm flight. Turned out they removed the 2pm flight from their schedule and left people scrambling. I have always received an e-mail from their about schedule changes, but always way after the fact. When I book AirTran I check their on-line schedule something like weekly up until our flight so we are not caught off guard.

wdwgoofeeee...thanks for the heads up on schedule changes. I think the fare is acceptable and everyday it seems there is something on the news about gas prices going up. I think we'll take it and keep checking the schedules.

We booked AirTran with a decent fare in December for our April flights. I am flying from Boston to Baltimore and then Baltimore to Orlando. I started checking their scedule and our confirmations a few weeks ago. All four flights had changed. They totally cancelled our flight home and had us on unacceptable flights. I am flying with DS DIL and grandkids. Although my final destination is Boston and theirs is Baltimore, I wanted to be on the same flight to Baltimore as they are and then continuing to Boston. When they changed us, I was not on the same flight at all.
I looked at the schedule and could see that there were seats on the flight they were changed to, but at a much higher fare than our original fare. I called and explained the situation, and they did put me on that flight. I check the confirmation at least weekly and it has changed a few minutes here and there several times.

If the fare goes down after you purchase, call back and ask for a price adjustment. They should give you the difference as an Airtran credit on your account. If you get somebody that says they can't, hang up and call back. The first person I asked said no. When I called back, the next lady said she'd take care of it right away. I ended up with a $136 credit. And yes, their fares fluctuate a lot. Check several times a day.

I just booked a round trip fare from Chicago to Orlando for $59 each way. We are going June 27-30. I have flown Air Tran many times and they seem to run on time, are nice planes and have almost always had good service. the one time we had a problem they gave us 2 comp tickets and we were happy.
