DME to MCO to pick up rental car?

I have a split stay in July, where I will be picking up a rental car for the 2nd half of my stay. So I'm checking out of CR and transferring to YC. Can I take DME to MCO just to pick up my rental car? I'll be returning the car at MCO on my departure day.

The reason I want to do this is the cost to rent at WDW and return to MCO is over $100 per day, vs $35 per day to rent and return at MCO.

Will this work?

Sure, many people do that....I've done it! Just let DME know what time you need to be at the airport and they'll get you on the bus that will get you there at that time.

As the PP noted, there's no problem doing this. DME doesn't care what you do after they bring you to the airport.

But be sure to keep on checking rentals (assuming you didn't book a rental that cannot be changed or cancelled). Costs change over time, and suddenly you might find that it's even money to rent at CCC or Swolphin or another place nearby.

I know. I was just reviewing notes from my last trip, and apparently my rate with Alamo went down a couple of days before I left home. So I rebooked at the lower rate. I'll be checking frequently, but right now I'm waiting for airfare to come down a little bit more so I can book that.

Absolutely keep checking. I've had lower rates when picking up at the Dolphin vs MCO. I've cancelled my MCO reservation and used the Dolphin one.
