My flight is supposed to land at MCO at 9:39 PM. I know that for any flight that lands after 10pm, I have to collect my own baggage. If my flight is late, will I need to claim my own bags or will they still be tagged in a way that I wouldn't be able to claim them?!

If I were flying in at 9:39pm, I wouldn't tag my bags...I would just let them go to baggage claim and get them myself. Much easier. You are really cutting it close. Even if your flight arrives, ontime, at 9:39, you won't get your bags delivered to you until about 3 hours after you checkin at your resort...that could mean no bags until 1am!!!!

If your flight is delayed, who knows what will happen to the bags. THey will probably go to baggage claim until someone pulls them and puts them aside.

I suppose you could always go to baggage claim and see if your tagged bags get out there to you. Some have said that the tagged bags just sit in the baggage area until the next morning and don't get out to the baggage claim area for the public.
Me? I just wouldn't take the chance. Don't tag the bags, get them yourself, and bring them to the DME bus with you.

If you are able to put all you need until the morning in the carryon's I would not shlep all the kiddo's stuff to ME. We landed 8:30 and had our bags in the room at 11 PM.
But I was prepared not to have them until the morning. Especially if you are dragging strollers and extra items. I had camera bad, tucked in an empty small cooler, the carryon/purse with the electronics in it.

Keep you eye on the flight at check in, if they already know it is delayed, then you just do not attach or take off the ME tags.

Have a wonderful time, and lower the stress levels as much as you can. If the driving is up to ME, and you can get the bulk of luggage to your room with them may be a huge help to a mom with little ones.

Since your flight is coming in so close to cut-off time, you are better off picking up your bags yourself. It could be 2 to 3 hours for the bags to arrive in your room. Remember-the bags go to a central site, then get split out from there. You will be much better off picking up the bags before you leave the airport.

Since you are supposed to get your bags, yellow tagged and all, yourself after 10 PM, you may assume they will be out in full view at the carousels. If you do not see your bags appear when everyone else's (non-Disney) bags have all appeared, then file a baggage claim before leaving for the Magical Express welcoming area.
