DME Question

I asked this over on Resorts, but didn't get much help...maybe someone here will know more about how to make this work...

DH & I are AP holders. We're going down with our clan on Sat, 12/8. Have a room at CBR, AP rate using my name/pass, no issues there. We've got DME already setup.

For Christmas, we're gifting my parents with a trip down as well. They want to see the grandkid(s) enjoying WDW. :goodvibes So they're arriving Thurs, 12/13.

Here's where it gets sticky... We have them booked at CBR using DH's AP (to get the AP rate). The ressie lists DH and my dad as the people in the room.

Is it possible to make it work for my parents to take DME from the airport to CBR on 12/13? I know Dad is easy, since he's on that ressie. But Mom's not on any ressie at this point...will they give her a fit?

I know on the DME site where you make the reservation, it asks for reservation number, name, and number in the party. Can we make the DME reservation in Dad's name, use the confirmation number, 2 adults, and everything be ok?

The plan was to add Mom to our reservation and take DH off when they come to check-in so that she has a valid resort ID for EMH and such. But obviously, that doesn't help with DME.

Let me know if this even made sense. ;)

Everyone who rides on the DME bus must be listed on the room reservation. Get your mom listed on a room reservation. I'm assuming that you are trying to avoid that 3rd adult in a room charge? I would't worry about it. Work it out when everyone gets there. But, she has to be listed in order to get the ride.

Ok...so you're saying...

Now, the ressies should be:

Room #1 - Our Family
Room #2 - DH, Dad, and Mom

Then, at time of check-in for Room #2, take DH off Room #1, take Mom off Room #2 and put her on Room #1?

You could even leave the ressies the way they were, exchanging key cards depending on who is staying in which room that night. (Nothing wrong with family members switching rooms even on a nightly basis as long as each person is on a reservation somewhere and no room is overcrowded.) You should exchange the cards back so each person has the card with his/her name when entering the parks.

But that wouldn't work, would it, since DH would be on two rooms and Mom on none?

Oy...this 1 adult pass = 1 AP room change is giving me a headache!

When I booked for our trip I booked a room for myself and DH and also a room for DD and her family. Only DH and I have AP's. The castmember who took the booking said it didn't matter who's name was on the second ressie as long as we had 2 AP's in the group. I would call back and ask if you could amend your ressies to do this. That should solve your problem.

When booking with an AP, I believe, you can book up to three rooms with one AP card. Of course, that may have changed when they changed a bunch of the AP stuff a year or so ago.
Now, obviously, that one person isn't going to be in all the rooms. But, they do have to be there when each group is checking in so that the AP can be shown to get the AP rate.
I would book two rooms, using one AP.
Room 1...you, dh and your kids
Room 2...mom and dad

I'm sure that shouldn't be any issue.

12/8 - 12/13
Room = OP + DH + daughter (+ maybe baby/ies)

12/13 - 12/16
Room 1 = OP + her daughter + her mom (+ baby?)
Room 2 = OP's husband + her dad (+baby??)

That way, everybody is on the right reservation on the correct dates; if the OP give birth before the trip (congratulations!), she can actually have up to two newborns in the room through the 13th, then when her parents check in, they can have three more in their room and still no occupancy levels will be exceeded :teeth:, but I digress. Where was I? Oh, right. So, the OP has one room for the first five nights, with her immediate family all named on the reservation. Then they have the second reservation for her parents for the remainder of the trip - and I agree, work out the actual room occupancy at check-in, but put your mother on the reservation!

Only one room per AP now. Life sure was easier when you could book up to 3 rooms!!

I'll see what they say...but that would make it the easiest, for certain...

Adopting, but thanks. :goodvibes

We may have to do it that way...and just hit the front desk early on the morning of 12/13 to change everything before my parents get to MCO...

Okay, well, first - still congratulations :)

Now, still, at CBR, you can have up to four Guests per room plus one child under three in a pack & play (i.e. the rooms only have two double beds).

You can also have up to two adults, 18+, per room at no additional charge - and depending on ages, up to three children - so my advice still stands :teeth: reworded:

12/8-12/13
Room = OP + DH + Lyss (+ Lyss's siibling/s?)
12/13-12/16
Room 1 = OP + DM + Lyss (+ sibling?)
Room 2 = DH + DF (+ sibling?)
Then switch people and room keys as desired.
