DME luggage transfer - can it go to your second resort of a split stay?

So we're flying in at 9:25p, (on SW, apparently they do participate in inbound luggage transfers now?) have a BLT 2 bedroom booked the following night.

The night we fly in we'll probably stay at a value and use DME since we'll just be sleeping then getting to the parks earlier than we would if we stayed at an airport hotel and took DME in the next day.

Can I just put the BLT tags on our luggage and have it go straight there since we'll be living out of carry-ons for one night anyways and won't want to be disturbed for luggage delivery once we check into the one-night-value-stay? Or would it be better/safer to put the value tag on, check in, ask at the value desk to not have the luggage delivered, then direct bell services in the morning to transfer it over to BLT with our carry-ons?

Nope. The bags will have to go to the resort you are going to. The baggage delivery part of DME is tied to your resort....since your BLT reservation isn't in effect yet, the bags can't go there.

I would actually not tag the bags. With your late arrival, you could be delayed. DME won't pick up the bags after 10pm..so you could be cutting it too close. I would leave the bags untagged (just in case you are held up) and then get them from baggage claim yourself. Yes, it makes it a bit longer when flying SW...you arrive on Side A, so have to go down to baggage claim on Side A (level 2), get your bags, then go back up to level 3 and cross over to Side B and then down to level 1 (ground transportation) to get DME.
But, you'll have your bags with you. Then you can have them transferred over to BLT first thing in the morning..or take a cab to BLT with your bags if you feel you want to have them with you, rather than waiting until late afternoon for them.

If you choose to tag them....tell the checkin people at the value that you want your bags held until the next morning. Then, stop at Luggage Assistence and tell them the same thing. Put out the 'privacy please' hanger on your door...then no one will come knocking at 2am!!! First thing in the morning, head over to Luggage Assistence and have the bags moved to BLT.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'll probably tag them since the whole purpose of staying at a value rather than a cheaper airport hotel is to not have to touch my bags ... and I don't want to see them until we check into BLT after spending that first day in the park, so if they don't make it that night, I'm okay with them just showing up the next day ...

As the child of an airline employee, I grew up having to be very okay with the idea of my bags becoming MIA, and as much as we fly its happened a few times as is inevitable (not to mention the constant horror stories that come home).

Thanks for the tip about the privacy please tag on the door. I'll let the front desk and luggage assistance know to just hold the bags til morning, then add my carry-ons and have them transferred to BLT when we check out/before we head to the parks. My main goal is for the kids to sleep for 8 hours, and as little luggage handling as possible for us.
