So we were all set to take DME from MCO to POFQ and back. However, I was getting antsy about it being a really long day since we're doing MVMCP that night. So I began looking around and can get a car from MCO, go straight to POFQ and relax and then drop at the Dolphin on our EPCOT day super cheap. We still want to take DME back to MCO from POFQ on our departure day. Do I need to do anything to change anything or can I just check our bags at POFQ and DME will still know we want to go back to the airport?
Thanks!!!

Your return reservation should still be there. I would ask at the front desk when you check-in. They put the return info under your door the day before check-out. Checking your bags is not connected to it, that is run separately.

I'm a little confused by your post. What do you mean by "go straight to POFQ and relax and then drop at the Dolphin on our Epcot day super cheap"?:confused3

If you get a car you will have to stop and get your luggage, which comes very close to negating any time saved by having a car take you to your resort.

Even getting our luggage and a car won't take as long as some of the longer DME trips. We're Emerald Aisle with National so we don't have to stop at the desk at all. I don't want to risk the "chance" of getting a quick trip when the average trip is 1.5-2 hours with DME.
Plus we have a pre park H&V so that will be easier too.

The average trip from deplaning to resort is 70-90 minutes. maxiesmom is right - any minimal time savings created by not waiting for a bus to load would be offset by the wait for luggage.

We almost always rent from National (Emerald Aisle), and to be honest, you might save 20 minutes or so over taking DME. Not really enough time to get to your resort and relax before the party. Then you have to account for the time you need to spend going to the Dolphin to drop the car off vs, going directly to EPCOT.
