Dme - bags only - staying at airport 1st night

We arrive at MCO at 9:10pm. We are spending the night at an airport hotel & checking into AKL the next day. If DME will take our bags we can get a smaller rental car.

Can I.....
1. Tag my bags & AKL will hold them - I doubt this.
2. Return to mco in the AM & take our bags to DME for delivery to AKL without riding the bus?

We could just split up & I could do Dme & DH do the rental car & grocery stop.

Is this not an issue on the way back since we drop our bags early at the resort?

Assuming your flight leaves after 9:00, you can just check your bags in using RAC.

This wouldn't work because your bags would be loaded onto the bus that you're supposed to be riding on, which means that you're supposed to collect your bags from the driver when you get to AKL. I can't imagine what would happen if the driver unloaded the bags and no one was there to retrieve them. The sticky that Alesia is referencing discusses the scenario where someone arrives during the time when the luggage bypasses baggage claim and goes onto trucks to the resorts separate from the DME buses, in which case the luggage gets delivered to Bell Services, and from there to the guests' rooms.
