can you still use DME if your plane is scheduled to land at midnight? if so, when would you expect your luggage to arrive at your resort? probably not in time for your pj's, but in time for the next day's clothes? or do the busses stop running at a certain time?

Buses do run 24 hours a day, but I have read on here that if you land after 11 you have to claim your own luggage and take it to ME with you. It is probably better that way as you will have all of your stuff when you check in!

DME does run 24/7. Regardless of what time you are getting there, its always a good idea to have a change of clothes and your med's with you in your carry-on. Seasoned travelers do this all the time.

You DO NOT have to claim your own luggage after 11pm. However, what you should do is pack a carryon with what you need to go to bed, and what you need to get up the next morning, then ask them to deliver your luggage sometime the next day.

If you are staying at a Value Resort, your luggage WILL NOT be delivered that night as their luggage services closes at 11pm. At moderate and deluxe resorts, your luggage can be delivered that night as they are a 24 hour operation, however, you can request that it be held till the next morning.

thanks everyone.

so anyone know if we're at a value resort and arrived at mco at midnight, how far into the next day do you think it would be before we got our luggage. likely to be in the afternoon sometime? or would it be available when bell services opened in the a.m.?

I don't have the answer to your question, but if this was me personally, I'd just get my own bag and be done with it.

might end up doing that, but was trying not to have to. i'll be in my scooter, and have a 20 lb restriction for back problems so i shouldn't really be lifting luggage.

guess that's what the kids are for :rotfl: :lmao:

so if anyone knows when "after-midnight" arrivals might expect their luggage at a value resort, please let me know.
thx!

I honestly don't know as we never waited on it. We had pajamas and clothes to get dressed in for the next day in our carryons, so we went to bed, got up the next morning, and left for the parks. Our bags were in our room when we returned 2:30 ish in the afternoon.

We stayed at AS Movies in August with a late arrival on DME. We checked into the hotel just past midnight, and our luggage arrived maybe a half an hour later. We were so exhausted, we didn't even think about asking them to hold it until morning, so they woke us up with the delivery, but it was nice to have it when we woke up in the AM.

I wasn't aware that baggage services closed at 11 PM, and whatever the policy, we got our luggage anyway. Maybe this isn't always the case, I don't know.

One word of warning, though -- if you get in late, be prepared to sit on the DME at the airport for a goodly bit of time waiting for other passengers to arrive to make a "full" trip. When we arrived at the airport, we hopped right on the bus, thrilled at our good luck -- but then sat on that bus for at least 40 minutes until a few other passengers arrived. We were exhausted, the kids kept saying "when are we leaving, Mommy?" and as I looked out the window longingly at private cars picking up their passengers, I wondered why I didn't just pay the extra money to get to the hotel after a long day.

DME has worked well for us in the past, but in the event of very late or very early arrivals, I will personally pay for a car in the future, just for ease of travel and comfort of my family. Just my opinion and words of advice, based on a very tiring experience...

wow. i never thought of that. yikes. i hope we won't have to wait too long. i've already decided we're cutting costs big time this trip, which means we've got to use dme. oh well.
