I've been a DMC member for awhile- in fact, I just closed my first VIP account and opened a new one for more free movies.

I ordered the Christmas Carol Featured Title, and now the Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 Featured title and neither one qualified for my commitment! I'm frustrated because each was $24.95!

I usually get the Double Feature, but I already have Pinocchio.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I am sorry, I wish i knew what you can do. They did not make it easy on me to return a featured selection I declined and they sent anyway. I sent them the e-mail confirmation to prove my side and I still ended up paying shipping to return it.

How did you cancel your VIP account? I have fullfilled my commitment and I am just done with this after my incident. I have not hit the 2 years, but have bought all the movies months ago to fullfil my commitment and be VIP.
 
Did you join the dvd club, and was the feature title a blu ray combo?


The Bug's Life dvd combo counted for me, so I wrongly assumed the blu ray combos counted, but when I called, they told me that it has to be a dvd to count.
 
Any non-discounted movies you purchase at regular Club Prices...

(starting at just $19.95 per DVD for DVD Club Members;....

$29.95 per DVD or Blur-ray for Blu-ray™ Members) count toward completing your membership agreement. ....

And the Double Feature option of your Featured Title also counts as 1 unit toward purchase commitment.


OK first, they have a typo in their FAQs there. "blur-ray"

Are you a blu-ray member now?

I wonder if they take each component to find the criteria for if it counts. If it's over that dollar amount BUT a discounted title anyway, perhaps it doesn't count.



I got the mailing months ago, the one saying "give up your VIP membership and start over with great deals"...I thought about it, but decided to pass on it. It was hard enough to fill that quota once, let alone a second time!



Found another bit in the FAQ that seems to indicate movies have to meet EACH part of the list to count.

PLEASE NOTE: Discounted movies, movies priced below $19.95 or $29.95 for Blu-ray™ members, non—recorded merchandise, special offers, and promotional items do not count toward fulfilling your membership agreement, unless otherwise indicated.

The bolding of "and" is mine. If my sis in law the lawyer were reading it, she would break it down like this.... "discounted movies AND movies priced below $19.95 for DVD members AND movies below $29.95 for BR members AND non-recorded merchandise AND special offers AND promotional items.... NOT ONE of those will count toward fulfilling your agreement".

And then
Multipacks are subject to different commitment rules, and their value toward your membership commitment will be noted in individual communications.
 

Because bumbershoot mentioned multipacks, I checked my account status since I ordered a multipack as my full price selection & thought I might have messed up again like I did on the blu ray combo.

That order hasn't gone through yet, so I don't know if my multipack counted, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the blu ray combo is now shown as counting towards my commitment, even though the person I spoke to said that it wouldn't.

Maybe it just takes awhile for the commitment info to show up on the account?
 
Whoo hoo! I just checked my account, and it suddenly showed up! It was a double feature, A Christmas Carol, and Santa Paws, and the former showed up as 1, which is what I wanted.
