Hi,

Has anyone done DLRP with a toddler? I'm looking at taking my little boy who is currently 14 months old however he would be 18 months old by the time we were looking at going.

Any advice on how easy/difficult it would be and also what rides they can/can't do would be really usefull.

Thanks

Hiya,

My DD2 was 19m when we went in April. She loved it!!! That was her third visit (she went when she was 3m and 10m old before). The look on her face when we saw the castle and Pooh Bear was stunning:)

We took her on most rides, went on the tea cups, carausel, Small World, Dumbo, the flying carpets, Peter Pan, the storytelling boats (cant rem the name), Casey Jnr, Orbitron, saw all the shows and parades with her etc. She was so happy to be there she didn't need a lot more...

We did take breaks here and there just to sit down and have a snack and a little rest but it was honestly fine.

HTH

They'll adore it. My youngest was around 14 months last Oct.

She was mesmerised by the rides but I had her in reins so I could keep a good hold of her just in case.

She went on and loved:-

Pirates of the Carribbean
Phantom Manor
It's A Small World
lots in Fantasy Land
Buzz Lightyear

She'd have a buggy nap while we took her sister of the bigger rides like Thunder Mountain and Star Wars.

I don't think i would take a child so young ( unless you had older children too )

I think they would get more out of it, if you wait until about 2.5+

that said, im sure she would love all the goings on and could go on the rides in fantasy land :)

DS went for the 1st time when he was about a year old (DD was 4). Obviously younger than your DS, so don't think he had any idea what was happening lol. He did really enjoy the rides we went on though (mainly Fantasyland rides) and he loved the character interaction at Cafe Mickey (and also the music & them dancing on the tables at Annette's - he found that highly amusing I think lol). He just napped in his buggy as and when needed and there were/are changing tables in all the toilets. So that wasn't a problem either.

I'm sure your DS will enjoy it.

First time we went our little boy was just 2. He had a fantastic time.

One bit of advice that we found very useful was to book a character meal for him, as when we first got there he was a little scared of meeting the characters, however after having his lunch with them he loved it and was happy to talk to them and cuddle with them in the park as well.

Like other posters we found that there was plenty of rides he could go on, they also have some great play area's which he loved.

Have a lovely time. We cant go this year as we are saving to go to WDW in Feb 09 and I'm really going to miss my fix!

Hi cap'njack. and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

I think DD was 15 months when she had her first visit during Xmas season. There was probably less rides that we couldn't go on eg Phantom Manor that she was too little to worry about :)

I don't think there was much we did not do :goodvibes
