Hi All,

Please be gentle - first post! Just wondering if anyone can help please. We are going to DLRP for our first time on 11th May for 3 nights, staying in Dream Castle Hotel. I would love to book a character meal for DD1 who is 4 1/2 and would go nuts with excitement if a character came to sit by her!
Any tips? Are there many to choose from and any that are better than others? And lastly, how do I go about booking them?

Sorry for all the questions! Thanks to you all!

Is she a princess fanatic? If so the meal with a princess at Auberge de cendrillon (in Fantasyland) is wonderful, but it's fine dining with wine and that's reflected in the price.
Otherwise the Lucky Nugget or Cafe Mickey are very good for substantial character interaction. You can read more about them in the restaurant FAQ sticky.

Hi- the best character meal and interaction we've had as been at Cafe Mickey. The characters come to your table and have pictures with everyone and sign autograph books as well. We've got some lovely photos of DD with the characters she's met, even DS who's 16 got into the spirit when Mickey and Goofy came around. DD values a trip here as the highlight of her trip to DLP.The food can be hit and miss but if you want some great character interaction I would recommend Cafe Mickey.

Hi yummymummywales and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

Have a look at trip reports also to get an idea of the different character meals.
Kev's Cafe Mickey is definitely one to read :goodvibes

We had lunch at Lucky Nugget this time for the first time and really enjoyed it. We also ate at Inventions and although it was expensive thought it was really worth the money- the food was delicious.
If you want a cheaper option the tea party in Plaza Gardens is also good.

We really enjoyed the lucky nugget and liked the eat all you want buffet, especially with fussy children. The desserts were lovely and we saw lots of characters, I thought they would be the not so popular ones but we had Mickey and Pluto and lots more. You could stay as long as you wanted too.
Personally I couldnt see the point of paying for a character breakfast as we had breakfast included at the hotel so we went for a late lunch and just snacked the rest of the day.

The best interraction with the characters we had in Cafe Mickey but having said that if your little girl likes the princesses then Auberge is definitely the one:thumbsup2 . We had dinner there in July and were greeted by Ariel and Eric (Mia's favourite princess), Suzy and Pearl (the mice from Cinderella) and Princess Minnie and Prince Mickey. It was great fun and both my girls loved it!:) I think we'll be going there again this time (just need to book it:cutie: )

Ate at the Lucky Nugget this past trip - it was brilliant :-)

Got a kiss from Robin Hood (my childhood hero!), bounced around with Tigger, picture with Friar Tuck and saw many many others (Minnie, Pluto, Prince John, Sheriff of Nottingham...)

Well worth the money :-)

For great character interaction I would recommend Cafe Mickey:thumbsup2 . There are several characters who do spend time at each table where they sign autograph books etc. For birthday celebrations the atmosphere is fantastic as the crew member get everyone involved in singing happy birthday :cheer2: . Last year my DS who is a big tigger fan was lucky to be singled out by tigger himself and they did a tigger dance together - priceless.

auberge du cendrillon is also good but it only the disney princes and princesses (when we went it was Cinderella and Prince Charming and Sleeping Beauty and Prince Philippe) who feature along with perla and suzy (the mice), also we found the food more 'child friendly' at Mickey Cafe.

If you're going to be there on a Sunday I would recommend the Sunday brunch at The Steakhouse in the Village. It is a character meal and all you can eat buffet. We have been ther twice and enjoyed it both times.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions - I think Cafe Mickey might be the favourite at the moment! Do you have to book the character meals before you go or can you just make reservations while you are there?

Not long until we go now - just the Park Tickets to get (didn't realise the prices were going up - boo!)
