How much time would you allow yourself to get from the DLR to your airport on the last day? I'm flying out of John Wayne (SNA) and will be in the parks most of that day, but want to make sure I'm not missing my flight home.

I'll either be hiring a towncar or having my hotel call me a taxi, as I will not be driving myself. I know that you "need" to be at the airport two hours before your flight, so based on that, I would need to be at John Wayne by 5pm... and will thus hit rush hour. Do I need to make sure I leave the DLR no later than 4pm? Earlier?

Just me, but I'd leave no later than 3:00. Traffic to John Wayne can be brutal at any time of day.

SNA is an easy airport to get through.
We usually allow 30 minutes from DLR to SNA by taxi.

We found it wasn't really necessary to arrive 2 hours before the flight. We generally try for a minimum of 1 hour before the flight.

We done this many time and it's worked out just fine. Most of the time our departure day is a Saturday or Sunday, on the last flight of the day around 6:50pm.

Like PP has mentioned, SNA is such a small airport that you really don't need to be there 2 hours before your flight. We usually aim for an hour, and give ourselves 30 minutes to get there via town car. The only time it's taken more than 30 minutes was because our town car driver tried to avoid traffic on the highways and got lost! Even then, it only took 45 minutes.

Given that you're travelling close to rush hour, you could play it safe and leave an hour early. You might find yourself twiddling your thumbs at SNA, but it would be one less thing to worry about.

Yea I would aim for being there about an hour before flight leaves (I travel quite a bit for business and always aim for ~45min - hr before flights!)
Getting to SNA at that time shouldn't be too bad maybe 25-30 min

7:00pm flight...one hour ahead of time is plenty for SNA...if you have kids, luggage, need to check in...and are a bit more conservative 1.5 hours is MORE than enough.

Ride to SNA is 20 min...I usually leave 30 min, 45 min during rush hour...and that is DRIVING away...not loading up.

5p departure you will be fine...4:30 if you like to play it safe. Leave a few minutes to load up and if the ride is late.
