Metro has a service where you can get a text message telling you how long until the next bus arrives - http://www.metro.net/service/nextrip.

For that you need the bus stop ID number:

• 16925 - Harbor Blvd from DLR to Knotts (stop "A" on perlster's map)
• 28500 - La Palma Ave eastbound towards DLR (stop "*" aka "D")

Send a text message to 41411 with the text:

• metro 16925
• metro 28500

Seems to work pretty well (try it at home!). I imagine this would be pretty handy if you wanted to stay as long as possible at Knott's and/or avoid waiting an extended time at either bus stop. I believe the data is based on the GPS location of the bus, not on the schedule, so for that reason it's more accurate than a printed schedule.
