My mom has a neck problem (cervical stenosis) in which excessive jerking would not be good. I have ridden Soaring over CA many times and I just do not percieve it to be that jerky. (no more so than other "transportation" type rides which she goes on alot)

Is there anybody out there (with neck problems) that could comment? She has a strong desire to ride it and my cautious self wants to tell her to fergitaboutit.

Also, I recall a fair amout of folks being wheeled up to the ride itself, but would she be allowed to riide her scooter up to the boarding point?

I can't answer about the neck part specifically except that I don't think it is jerky either. I remember it as being very smooth but I also don't have neck problems.

She can roll her scooter right in. At least that's what they let me do a year ago.

Unless there have been drastic changes made to the ride, it should not be a problem for your mom. I have some minor neck pain on Screamin' (the coaster) and I avoid Space Mountain and Star Tours at all costs. Soaring Over California is very smooth, but she will be tempted to look around, so please keep that in mind. For safety sake, you should probably ask her physician's opinion.

Thank you all so much.

We asked her MD, but he had no frame of reference for the ride. When I described it to him, he thought it would be OK.

If any others have experiences with the ride I would like to know.

Here's what the Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities for DL and DCA have to say about Soaring over CA:
This state-of-the art flying machine takes Guests on an
exhilarating, gliding adventure that includes dramatic
drops, turns, swoops and lifts. Motion sickness and fear of
heights could be aggravated by this experience. Guests
who do not meet the minimum 40-inch height requirement
may not ride. Service animals may not accompany Guests
on this attraction. Supervise children at all times.
I looked at some of the other things that I knew would have restrictions for people with neck or back problems and the restrictions were listed in the description. Since Disney doesn't identify this as a "caution" ride (and especially since you have ridden it yourself), I'd say it would not be likely to cause any problem. Keep in mind though, that I have not ridden it myself.
