We arrived late Thursday night an was at the gates at 7:30am Friday morning. The crowd was exceptionally lively. People were dressed in their finest Disney Holiday hats. Which by the way, we had to buy a new set each day according to my partner. While sitting at DCA wearing our fur trimmed mickey ears, our disney hoodies and our lanyards full of christmas pins, we had a couple people walk over to us and ask us if they could take our picture.

Yes, they noticed the big Disneydorks in us as well.

We spent the early part of the morning since it was a smaller crowd, visiting Sleeping Beauty's Castle and then over to see It's a Small World Holiday, Toon Town, New Orleans Square, Haunted Mansion. Sleeping Beauty's Castle is absolutely beautiful and the special effects are done really well. It totally respects the original concept and stays very true to it. By late that afternoon, lines were pretty long but it doesn't take long to get through it. IASW for the holidays was great. I've never seen this before either, so it was a huge treat for the both of us. The refurb of the outside makes it look brand new and the inside has been updated with LED lights making it so much brighter and more colorful. The lighting of the outside, along with the light show that happens on the fascade is pretty cool. We got to watch this each night. Lines were SO Long, but it still only took about 30 minutes to get on.

We spent the rest of the afternoon riding our favorites. Storybook, Casey's Train, Pirates and of course Haunted Mansion. The Holiday set up for the Mansion was also the first time either one of us had seen it as well. The decorations on the outside caused us to take about 100 photo's! We couldn't get enough of this ride. We rode it a total of 8 times in those 3 days. Pirates we rode about 6 times.

We spent a short amount of time each day at California Adventure. The place isn't decorated as much as DLR and a few things are closed or being refurbished. The lake has been drained so photo ops over there aren't the best. The whole park just seemed kind of dead to me or not as exciting. I hope all the refurbs and upgrades they're doing to the park over the next 4 years helps.

There wasn't much that we didn't ride at DLR except for a couple of the Fantasyland dark rides. Once every couple years for these rides is enough for me.

The park decorations are beautiful. New Orleans Square had to be my favorite place. Even Toon Town had some great decorations. The Castle had an upgrade for the lighting and the lighting of the castle which happens each night was breathtaking. The LED Light show starts at the castle, travels to the surrounding trees, the HUB, then the garland on Mainstreet, all the way down to the main tree at the beginning of Mainstreet. Seeing everything turn from colored lights to white LED was beautiful. Don't get me started about standing there while it snowed. I swear I got teary eyed each and every time, whether it was on mainstreet, new orleans square or over by It's A Small World.

Every day we got to watch the Christmas Parade, which honestly is just 'ok', the lighting of the castle, Fantasmic, holiday fireworks and one night we got to watch the candle light procession through DLR, where they had the Living Christmas Tree and the Christmas Story narrated by John Stamos at the entrance. He's just as yummy in person. Crowds for these nights were crazy! No room to move.

Late nights at the park are my favorite. We found ourselves just walking around and around, looking at the lights, sitting and staring at the castle. I have to say, Holidays in the park are quire romantic.

Sunday night around 11pm, we wandered over to Sleeping Beauty's wishing well, holding hands and threw a coin in the well for good luck. While we sat there staring at the castle, we talked about sharing the rest of our lives with one another and how much we love and care for each other. Then we exchanged rings.

Needless to say, I was a blubbering mess by this point.

I have to say that it was the perfect ending to a magical weekend.

We also bought clothing, hats, pins, candy, ornaments. Our pocketbooks will be hurting for a little while.

I'll be posting a link to pictures once I sort through the 750 we took. I need to take it down to about 200 for viewing. We also took a bunch of quick videos which I'm going to try and piece together for a video montage of sorts.

Stay tuned. :)

AWWWW - what a great TR!!! The most romantic thing we did was high five each other for getting to the subs while there was still no wait….
Sounds like a great time - can't wait for the pics!

I am so happy that you had a wonderful trip! :goodvibes Congratulations on your engagement!

You got some really nice pics! I especially like the ones from HM. Maybe one of these days we will make it to DLR to see it in person!

The HM nnd iasw during the holidays is worth the trip alone! Glad you had a great time!

OP did you happen to notice the bullet hole in the HM dining room scene?

not to de-rail the topic - but is it a real bullet hole?

Urban Legend has it that way. Why else would they place that spider web there? :confused3

For those of you who don't know what we are talking about, rumor has it some kid snuck a pellet gun into Disneyland years ago and shot a hole in the glass separating the doom buggies from the dining room scene. The glass is too large to remove to repair, so Disney added a spider web to cover up the hole. It can be seen in the upper left hand corners of one of the glass panels.

Which bling the rings or the 60 pins we were wearing? :)

Oh and what does OP mean?

OP = Original Poster, You, and I'm not referring to those pins...

Those are not bling, those are an addiction! :rotfl2:

Ah gotcha. I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations.

Addiction? People kept asking us if we were annual pass holders because of our pins. Or they asked us how long we had been collecting. Um.....for the past two days is all. That got us a lot of looks.

And thanks! The sad thing is we found out that good friends of ours bought the exact same set of rings for themselves. Now we match.

Oh, well, if you get tired of your partners you can swap without buying new rings! :lmao: Just kidding. ;)

The pins are a black hole of money. We each (DH, DS and I) have about 500 pins. I am actually thinking about not trading in August. I will just buy the AP and DVC pins and be done with it. At least that is what I say now. :rolleyes1

We keep saying that too. We honestly don't trade very much. If we see a cool pin on a CM that we want, then we trade, but otherwise we buy pins as a way to remember that specific trip. We fill a lanyard and we're done. For July 4th, half our pins were for the holiday and the same went for Christmas. Although, if a little kid comes to me and asks me to trade, my heart melts and I can't say no. I have to trade. :) I then go back and re-buy the pin I just traded. lol

Nice report! Beautiful photos.

We have one of our hands too, showing our rings. :teeth:

We bought ours in Ireland though. Hopefully, we won't run into any friends, or other close people with them.

When we went this year we each had about 200 traders in our luggage. TSA flagged us and we had to take the pins out and go back through. :rolleyes1

It is nothing for me to blow through 20 pins a day, which means I have to buy a TON of pins before each trip. DH is a bit more choosy so his traders last longer than mine. DS trades through all of his pins, then asks for mine so he can trade more!

I can't remember how much I spent last year when Disney Shopping had their big pin clearance. I know I bought about 100 pins to add to the ones we already had for trading. I have sworn off eBay because there are too many counterfeits on there, so getting pins at Disney Shopping or the Disney Store (if I drag my butt all the way to Collin Creek) are my only options for traders.

We'll see how I feel about it in about 7 months. It does take up VAST amounts of time, so maybe if we do trade we'll designate certain days or something and leave the lanyards in the room the other days.

Little kids always come up to DH and want to trade, but they rarely approach me. We finally figured out that DH's lanyard is blue like the CMs! :rotfl2:

Love the pics! I keep looking for someone who looked like your profile pics! But after seeing your pics - I definitely didn't. Too bad they couldn't have the christmas parade at night becuase of the posadas. There's nothing like the christmas parade at night.
But back to your pics - you have a great eye!

Thank you. My internal artist comes out I guess when I take photos.

Funny thing is that we ran into a lot of people who knew us. I've had a blog for the past 6 years (the one now is the latest version) and we were approached by a handful of people over the course of a couple days, saying that they read our blog and wanted to say Hi. We had fans! lol Or maybe stalkers....
