DLH room availability question

We are headed to DLH later this month, driving from Phoenix, and we have a cabana reserved at the DLH pool for the afternoon. We expect to arrive at the hotel around noon. I know that room availability is never guaranteed that early (and sometimes not even later in the afternoon) but it certainly would be easier if we could check into our room and get changed before we head to the pool.

Any advice on how to accomplish this? Should I call the front desk from the road and ask them to set aside a room for us based on our estimated arrival time? Should we just plan to change in the bathrooms in the hotel lobby? If it makes a difference, our reservation is for a deluxe room view, which we intend to select as 2 queens with a pool view, hopefully in either Fantasy or Adventure towers.

When we stayed there we checked in around 8am and our room was ready at 10:30am. It was on a thursday morning. Not sure if this helps any!

I would hope for the best, which would be having a room ready when you check in upon arrival and plan for the worst, which would be utilizing the Hotel restrooms to change for your pool time.

Personally, I would not call ahead for this. A room request is one thing, but checking in early....
I would just hope for the early check in, but I would plan to have a bag packed with all of your essentials for the pool.

You never know. We always have a deluxe view room at the DLH and we usually arrive around noon or 1. We have had our room ready at noon when we arrived before, but one time we arrived at noon and our room was not ready until 5:00 p.m. even though the official check in time is supposed to be 3:00 p.m. I would just make plans to get ready for the pool in the lobby restroom, and if your room is ready then consider that a bonus.

My experiences has been similar to others. One time it was ready when I arrived at noon and one time not until 4 pm.

But wouldn't you need a room key to get into the pool area??

Just to be clear, I don't mean checking in by phone, merely requesting that if a room in our category is going to be available around noon that they hold it until we arrive. I don't even know if such a thing is possible, but my first thought was that it couldn't hurt to call and ask. But if that is definitely impossible, there is no point in pestering them.

If I am not mistaken, they will give you a room key even if your room is not ready and then text you when it is active to unlock the room. I have never used one of these early keys for pool access, but I have charged numerous tiki drinks from Trader Sam's while waiting for the text. (In my experience, by the time you get to the bottom of your second tiki drink and a plate of poke, you hope that text never comes!)
